Meet Stephanie Borger | Makeup Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Borger and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephanie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I really just always had a passion for makeup and wanted to still help people. I wanted to make a career change for awhile (I did sales for a private college to help students and International students study at the school). I just wanted to do more. I was board and burned out since I had done the same thing for 7 years. I never would have thought I would have become a makeup artist; I guess I didnt think I could do it. So, obviously doing makeup was the total opposite thing that I had been doing. I had been married for 1 year (I turned 40 that year) and told my husband I wanted to do makeup. He was all for it and my biggest cheerleader! He is in graphics and we brainstormed a name and logo and made it come to life. I started networking and going to bridal shows, worked with my other friend to work on my website. It honestly just all came together. I love working with people and I knew I still strived for that personal interaction; honestly makeup has taken it to a whole new level and has really made me grow as a person and truly unlocing more creative juices than I thought I had!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a passonate person who loves to talk to anyone; my parents say that I have been that way since I have been able to speak saying Hi to everyone in my stroller! I just have a nack for talking to people and I really want to make my clients feel comfortable speaking to me. I think that I have attainted that because sometimes people tell me their deepest darkest secrets; sometimes makeup can be very sensitive because they see flaws and its my job to still make them feel beautiful and instill the self confience in the client. I have had many clients cry in my chair and while I dont feel good about that its such an honor for them to feel that comfortable with me. I feel like being authenic and kind to others I gain their trust, I am also up in everyones personal space so its easy (alot of the time) to get upclose and personal. There are many challenges there are so many talented artists out there so I do feel very special when someone chooses me to be a part of their special day (wedding, photshoot or event). Marketing is always a challenge and expensive but necessary so people can see you on many different platforms. I work very hard to get reviews, pictures from clients and its not always easy but I think its so important to have those so people can see your work and see the feedback from past clients. I really just try and work hard and create a relationship with my clients. I want people to know its just not about picking up a brush because you watched some utube videos or ticktock now your an expert- there is so much more that goes into it. You have to be the total package, have creativity, passion and personality.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would difinaley first take my friend to the mountains first, I love Vail (I got enganed there) the foood is amazing, scenery is spectacular and its so fun to meet peope from all over the country and world who comes to visit. I love the Golden Bear there that is one of my favorite pleaces to visit and I go every time I am in Vail, all the beautiful and the bear is a signaure of Vail. I would also go to Estes Park, love how quaint it is just like in the Hallmark movies! The Stanly Hotel is amazing with good food and drinks at the bar. Back in Denver I love the Cherry Creek area so many great restaurants and types of cuisine from Cherry Cricket for burgers, North & Piati for italian, machete for yummy tacos and Hapa for sushi you cant go wrong. I also love Snooze and Santigos breakfast burritos!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband is my #1 Cheerleader, my family especially my sister always has been rooting for me and actually said “its about time” when I told her I wanted to create a business doing makeup. Obviously all my clents that I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with leave lasting impressions and solidify why I love doing makeup.
