We had the good fortune of connecting with Sydney Koele and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sydney, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Truthfully, I had never considered pursuing an artistic career until I felt like I hit a wall in college. I was forced to take a step back and think about what I wanted to contribute to the world. At the end of the day, I realized that creating and expressing myself through art was one of the things that brought me a sense of being. Luckily, I was presented an opportunity to make my art a career, and that has easily been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! I will forever be so grateful to share the love of art with the people around me!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Personally, I am in love with my career and there is not one thing I would change about my journey so far. I am a fine-line tattoo artist in Denver, and I am so proud to be a part of this community! One of the biggest road blocks I’ve struggled with are mainly within myself. With art being a full time job, it can get fairly easy to lose motivation and inspiration for future pieces. However, I am grateful to work with so many creative people that always have such amazing ideas!

I have noticed how intimidating tattoo shops can be, and I am so grateful to work in a space that does their best to provide comfort to everyone getting tattooed. Unfortunately, I have experienced some spaces that do not provide this level of care to their clients, and it can often ruin the tattoo experience for them. I hope to change the way tattoo shops are seen, and to make this process a little less intimidating for anyone involved!

Everyone deserves an artist that puts your care and comfort first!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
As a kid, my little sister and I lived with our aunt, who is a phenomenal artist and truly one of my biggest inspirations. I was always so fascinated watching her bring her ideas to life with just a pencil and paper. She encouraged us to express ourselves through different mediums, and she introduced us to the beauties of creating. As I’ve grown up and established myself a little more, I still give her credit for supporting me even when I didn’t know what I was doing. I am so lucky to have been able to admire such beautiful art from a young age and step into this world of self expression!
