We had the good fortune of connecting with Sydney Rezner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sydney, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
While my business is on the new side, I haven’t stopped learning since the day I decided to start. The biggest lesson that I am learning and always working on is that I don’t have to have it all figured out in order to be successful. Imperfect action, and authenticity are important factors as I build my brand and support my clients in building theirs.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have gotten where I am now because I genuinely care about the people. I want the world to know that the most important part of brand photography, beyond supporting my clients entrepreneurial dreams, are the relationships I make. I love supporting our small business community, by learning about my clients and their brands, we are able to work together to create intentional images that present an authentic visual message for their business across social media and other marketing platforms. The relationships and creativity in my photography business is the easy part.
The business strategy and mindset aspects are what have been difficult but I am learning one day at a time, investing in courses and seeking the help of others with more experience and slowly I am growing into the business owner title that came along with monetizing my love of people and photography.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We live down in the Springs, and have two young boys so some our favorite spots to share with our friends and family that visit are: The Manitou Springs penny arcades, The Space Foundation, Cheyenne Mtn. Zoo, Old Colorado City, Local Open Spaces and Hikes, and the United States Olympic & Paralympic Museum.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out Courtney DeMatteo of Crystal Clarity Life Coaching for helping me name the fear and anxiety that was holding me back from going after my career in photography. *perfection paralysis*
in addition to that my family truly deserves a little credit too. Our travels, adventures and more inspired me to pick up and really learn how to use my camera in the first place.
