We had the good fortune of connecting with Sydnie Chapman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sydnie, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“Be the energy you want to receive” This resonates with me truly to my core. What you are putting out in this world will come back to you ten fold. How you start your day, how you interact with those around you, how you view a challenge in front of you.. How you look at it and the energy you put into it will be what you receive back!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a hairstylist and have owned my salon for 13 years. Aside from being a stylist I co-own CycleBar Fort Collins with my fiancé. My main focus is to inspire growth, impact lives and cultivate community. I am still beyond shocked that we own CycleBar together. Before I met my fiancé I was already working at CycleBar as an instructor. I was married to my ex husband and the relationship was toxic, unsafe and extremely negative. My only outlet of safety and my true safe was when I would be teaching. It was my sanctuary. My ex had instilled in me that my goal setting or dreams were me being greedy and selfish. And in all honesty that they would never happen. When someone tells you this enough over and over again you start to believe it. Fortunately and unfortunately my marriage ended when my 5 year old daughter called 911 on her dad for throwing me down the stairs. This was the hardest and lowest point in my life. I was angry I stayed long enough for my children to have to witness that and terrified of the life that was to come. Still filled with the negativity he told me repeatedly even without him around anymore. Life changed the moment I met Zack. He is the kindest, most giving, loving and supportive human I have ever met. When we started dating he helped me work through lots of PTSD and triggers that I knew were there and that I didn’t know existed. I was amazed in a relationship that you just communicate your emotions with out anger, violence and shame. I would say a goal or dream and he would literally be so overjoyed and would do anything in his power to help me achieve it. Biggest cheerleader. One morning I woke up and told Zack that I had a dream that we owned CycleBar. He just said “cool” and walked away. I was like oh ok that’s too crazy…. little did I know he had instantly texted my friend and the previous owner of CB asking for a lunch meeting that day. The two met and Zack instantly asked her.. ” what if someone wanted to buy CycleBar” she asked who and he said “Sydnie and myself.” She instantly said that has been her dream since me starting at the studio. Needless to say it took me a month to get on board with them. I was still filled with tons of triggers, PTSD, and fear of failure. I did lots and lots of therapy to work through why these emotions were there and to allow the emotions of why I had that dream to begin with in the first place. Cause deep down inside I knew I could and I would do amazing work at it! With that we started the process to buy the studio! 5 months later we were the owners!! We bought the studio in September 2019. 7 months before COVID hit hard. This last year and half I have learned more about myself as a person, boss, friend and partner than I think I have in my 35 years alive. One of the biggest lessons I have learned to overcome is guilt. Guilt that I couldn’t keep my doors open, guilt that I couldn’t pay my staff as much as I wanted, guilt that Riders wanted to continue to pay to support our small business, guilt that I couldn’t help them the way I know how. So many emotions to work through. But that means so much growth has happened. I am grateful for all the takeaway and so excited about what is to come!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Fort Collins is one of the most amazing spots in the US. I am super biased as I am born and raised here and will never leave. This town has my heart. It’s full of community, movement, fun and entertainment. If someone was visiting here I would obviously get them into one of my CycleBar Rides! CycleBar is located at Foothills Mall which is surrounded by tons of my favorite places! We would definitely hit up Torchy’s post Ride to grab a taco and marg. Then shopping at all the stores at Foothills. I also love so many local boutiques in town. Lemon’s and Lace & HeyDay are two of my favorites. We would hike Horsetooth Mtn to get a view of the entire city! Then take a bike ride to Downtown Fort Collins and have dinner at Penrose! It would be a day that describes this city so well.. community, movement, fun and entertainment!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
To my fiancé Zack. You help me believe in my craft, passions, goals, dreams and visions. You inspire me to be the best me daily. In all aspects of this life, As a daughter, partner, friend, boss, instructor, and mother. You helped me work through triggers in my past that were holding me back from wanting to push through the challenges of goals I have always dreamed of. I can’t thank you enough for your belief in me, your love and your support.
