Meet Tairah Brown

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tairah Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tairah, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started Love Prevails to help the families who are watching their loved ones struggle with addiction and mental health issues. Coming from both the perspective of the addict, and the family member of addicts, I know first hand how hopeless and terrifying it is to watch someone you love give their life to addiction. I had to navigate through this process alone, going through all of the stages of grief and making bad decisions along the way. In the end, it only served to push my loved ones deeper into their addictions. Fortunately for me, I was able to figure out how to get my loved ones help before it was too late, but not a lot of families get that opportunity. My passion for helping others comes from my lived experience. At Love Prevails, our goal is to work with these families that are lost, alone, and desperate to get their loved ones treatment by working together to find the best course of action for sustainable recovery for their loved one.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Love Prevails, when a family contacts us, we take action right away. There is a lot that goes on before an intervention takes place. We have to interview the family members and task them to write impact letters. We work with the family to find the treatment center that best fits the addict, taking our time to consider the direct needs of the addict. We then organize the intervention and I personally take the loved one off to treatment. An interventionist comes in as a neutral third party. When family members try to intervene themselves, it often creates resentment and hurt feelings across the board due to the years of hurt and failed expectations. Having an interventionist is important to navigate the family dynamic, and help both sides maneuver this tricky process.
Our aftercare is one of the most important things that set us apart from other interventionists. During the extent of treatment, we maintain contact with the families, providing updates on their loved one, and helping them navigate their own mental health. Another important factor that sets us apart is we work with families nationwide, and are able to travel anywhere in the country for an intervention.
Love Prevails came with many obstacles. The biggest challenge I didn’t realize I would have to face, but something that ended up becoming incredibly important to me, was forming relationships with other people in the industry. These relationships have been vital in my success as an interventionist, and I have made many life-long friendships. It started with going to different treatment centers to learn about they had to offer, and the more people I connected with, the more opportunities opened up for me. I am now the first on the intervention referral list for multiple organizations across the country.
Love Prevails was created by addicts, for addicts. We come from a place of love, understanding, and empathy, and our ability to relate to addicts across the country is a huge key in our success. No family has to navigate this heartbreaking situation alone, if you are watching your family member struggle with addiction, we can help.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I was born and raised in Colorado, so we would spend every waking moment exploring the majestic Rocky Mountains. Some key towns we would visit include Estes Park, Durango, Glenwood Springs, and Telluride, my favorite hidden gem.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to recognize and shoutout both of my girls, Graicey and Laicye. Graicey, Laicye and myself have walked this journey together and continue to enjoy long term recovery. I am proud that my oldest daughter is actively involved in Love Prevails, and both of my girls are very passionate in helping others that are struggling with addiction. One more shoutout I would like to give is to my sponsor of several years, Sonya. Without Sonya’s support, I don’t know where I would be today. Sonya I love you very much and thank you for being there for me.
