We had the good fortune of connecting with Talia Gutin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Talia, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
My favorite quote over the last decade comes from Rainer Maria Rilke’s Letters to a Young Poet:

“Have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don’t search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, you will gradually, without even noticing, live your way into the answer.”

This quote reminds me to honor the mystery of life — to sit with the discomfort of the unknown and trust the unfolding. It’s a reminder that living the question is often more meaningful, more transformative, than seeking the answer. The answers will come when they’re ready. But staying in tune with myself, remaining in dialogue with the questions, helps me arrive at the answer that’s truly meant for me.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
At my core, I’ve gotten to where I am by staying connected — at every turn — to who I am.

I am a certified Life Coach with graduate training in various therapeutic modalities and the lead coach at Mindful Marriage and Family Therapy based in New York City. I’m also a writer and poet, with my first book of poetry, The Mother Self, to be published on May 6th, 2025. I wrote it during my first year postpartum with my first baby while pursuing graduate studies at New York University. The book, which became part of my thesis work, explores the multifaceted, often contradictory journey of early motherhood — the growth and grief, beauty and pain, connection and loneliness.

Today, I work with individuals, couples, and groups, with a particular passion for “mother work.” I lead local mother groups in Boulder, creating a supportive, intentional, and sacred space for women to navigate the highs and lows of early motherhood. Together, we explore the ambiguity of identity shifts, share the raw truths of this life stage, and build community with other Mamas. More broadly, I love supporting clients through major life transitions — whether it’s motherhood/parenthood, young adulthood, the loss of a loved one, a painful breakup, or the natural evolution of aging. These seasons of life are often challenging and painful, but they are also fertile ground for renewal, transformation, and expansion.

My professional journey hasn’t been easy — it’s been full of challenges — but it’s always felt natural. I continue to follow the callings that speak to me on a deep, intuitive level. Every step I take begins with an internal check-in. I anchor within before making significant decisions, ensuring each move aligns with my truth. Trust is essential to my path — trusting the wisdom of my own pace while also meeting my edges and challenging myself to confront the things I fear.

The pillars of my work and brand are clear: Anchor inward. Look within instead of chasing answers outside. Take intentional solitude. Step back from the noise and distractions to return to Self — again and again. Honor and live your values (with your feet, not your mind), and let those values guide each step in order to forge a life rich with meaning and purpose.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a close friend came to visit me in Boulder for a week, it might feel a bit repetitive — but only because I’d want to take them on hikes every single day! Some of my favorite trails are Shanahan Ridge, Centennial Trailhead, Mt. Sanitas Valley Trail, Anne U. White, and the Wonderland Lake Loop.

We’d also make countless stops at Wonder, where I’m a regular. Their cacao drinks are my favorite! For dinner, I’d take them to some of my go-to spots: Basta, Dushanbe Tea House, Pizzeria Alberico, and Santo. I’d make sure to visit The Tonic Alchemy Bar — not just for their incredibly creative, healing drinks but for the raw desserts, too.

I love a slow stroll down Pearl Street, lounging under the trees by Boulder Creek in Eben G. Fine Park, and, wandering through Boulder’s Farmers Market and Trident Booksellers — two places that never get old.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are a few people and places I’d like to recognize — each has shaped and supported my path in profound ways.

First, my Dad, who gave me an incredible gift I’ve come to appreciate more deeply as I’ve grown older. As a young girl, he nurtured my self-belief, confidence, resilience, and perseverance — a foundation I am eternally grateful for, one that continues to fuel everything I am and do.

I also want to honor my teacher, mentor, and dear friend, Coby Kozlowski, who taught me how to stay in the fire of life, to find comfort in discomfort, and to trust that there’s always more to come.

And finally, Mary Oliver — whose poetry breathes life into me, reorienting me to what matters most. Always. Every time. Her words are etched into my mind and soul, guiding me home to myself again and again.
