We had the good fortune of connecting with Meagan Lamontine and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Meagan, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my personal success is the support I have from my friends and loved ones. Not to mention the support I found through acquaintances. I feel like I am successful because of the people in my circles that have helped me grow into the photographer I am today.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been a creative person for as long as I can remember. I have always loved taking photographs. I started out with disposable cameras, moved on to a point and shoot, and finally upgraded to a professional level DSLR. When I graduated to the DSLR, I started out taking photos at music venues, festivals, and concerts. Those gigs were an amazing experience, and I was so lucky to have the opportunities I did. However, they were not paid gigs and I struggled financially for a while before changing my niche. I just persevered to overcome and even though times were hard sometimes, I didn’t give up because I know photography is what I love. That is the biggest lesson I’ve learned through this photography journey, don’t give up. I have since moved onto portrait photography. Creative and cosplay photography is where I love to be. I love to get inspired, work on ideas to bring my inspiration to life, and collaborate with other creative people to bring it all together. Creative photography is really where my heart is. I am most proud of how far I have come as an artist. Looking at work I did when I first got my DSLR to today is sometimes mind-blowing to be honest. I am super excited to make more art with people this year when the weather warms up, and we hopefully get COVID-19 settled down. I have a lot of ideas in notebooks and on Pintrest that I am looking forward to bringing to life. I hope people know about my brand is that I am here to be creative and make some lasting memories for them. Photography should be fun and art.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my friend to Lyons, CO to go to Oskar Blues. They have some amazing fried pickles and great beer. Red rocks would be a definite stop on our list. Since it’s pretty far from Greeley, it would be a day trip for sure. I would take them to Fort Collins for brunch at Snooze and then go for a drive up the Poudre Canyon. I would also take them down to Denver for the day to check out the 16th Street Mall and the museum of nature and science.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shout out to my mom. Without her encouragement throughout my life, I wouldn’t have the confidence to be creative in my work and grow as an artist. I would also like to dedicate it to my partner, Jarrett. He’s always on board for whatever I throw out there, even if it’s a little weird. He’s been my rock through rough times.
