We had the good fortune of connecting with Talia Strahler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Talia, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
Go with your gut and follow your heart. You don’t have to follow what everyone else is doing, especially if it doesn’t feel right. You can pave your own path. What is meant for you, is meant for you to have, so don’t be afraid to go for it.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My approach to serving my patients is a holistic approach. I encompass so much more than just physical therapy. I like to tie in how the individuals past trauma, injuries, health, habits etc. are related to what they are coming to see me for. I include prescriptive exercises along with a nutrition plan, and programming if the individual requests. I am proud of stepping away from the traditional PT setting where I felt I was cutting myself and my patients short. When a patient comes to see me now, we get to spend 60-90 minutes together as well as communicate post session to progress/regress/ ask questions, and continue the care even outside the visit time. This allows me to help in real time and makes the patient feel like they are not alone.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would have to take them to red rocks for a workout. I would take them to eat at some fun restaurants in Denver such as El five, Barcelona Wine Bar, or out for some sushi. At night we might hang out at the Rino arts District or on Broadway.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My dad helped me quit the job I absolutely hated and put all my effort into applying for Physical Therapy school even though I would be cutting the deadline close, without a garentee I would even get in to PT school. I was scared, but the encouragement was what I needed!
