We had the good fortune of connecting with Taryn Crimi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taryn, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve spent the last 10 years working with adults to help them to identify limiting beliefs and transform their mindset so they could accomplish their goals.
I often found myself thinking, imagine how different life would be if I had a chance to speak to these people when they were little children, before the world made them feel like they weren’t good enough.
What if you gave children these tools and helped them to instill positive beliefs right from the very beginning? – Imagine how different life would be if every child grew up knowing they could accomplish anything they set their minds to.
As a mom of 4 little boys, I wanted to find a way to help our boys avoid the unnecessary challenges that plague so many of us as adults. I saw first hand how much baggage we all unknowingly carry around with us and I didn’t want them to struggle like we did. I wanted to find a way to empower them, to instill a strong sense of confidence in them by teaching them that our power lies within us.
We searched and searched but couldn’t find anything that would help us to teach our boys these concepts in an age appropriate way. There were many child development courses available, but most of them were designed for the parent, and not the child.
The reality sank in, – there wasn’t anything out there that would help us teach our children. That’s when the real work began. I took everything I had learned while working with adults and reverse engineered what we needed to teach our children while they were still forming their foundational beliefs. What we discovered is that storytelling is one of the best ways to teach children these concepts – in a way that they can relate to. Let them learn while they are having fun!
Imagine how far they will go, when they believe they have the power to make it so!
What should our readers know about your business?
At Limitless Children we work with young children under the age of 7. We create make-believe that builds self- belief. We believe the stories we tell ourselves not only shape who we become, but WHAT we believe we are capable of.
We each have a story that we believe about ourselves. It’s the internal narrative of who we believe we are and what we believe we are capable of. It’s the story of where we’ve been and how far we believe we can go.
Imagine how different life could be, if we helped children to form positive beliefs right from the start; so they don’t have to heal from limiting beliefs the hard way later on as adults.
We offer an ever-growing digital library of beautifully illustrated, narrated stories meant to teach young children how to harness the power of their mind to form supportive beliefs, inner dialog, and self confidence that helps them thrive well into adulthood.
What if children were raised to believe so strongly that they were filled with limitless potential that when the world told them their dreams weren’t possible, they responded by achieving the “impossible”?
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love beautiful landscapes, beauty in nature, beauty in architecture, and beautiful interiors. We would spend our time seeking out the most beautiful places around. Hiking to the top of mountains with breathtaking views. Sitting by the water, listening to the tides roll in, as we enjoy great company with great friends. Relaxing by the fire on a chilly night, drinking red wine. Going to spas and having a day of relaxation and pampering. Having lunch on the water watching the boats sail by. Going to a winery for the day and sipping great wine. Dressing up and going out to a fancy restaurant with great friends.
These are some of my favorite things to see and to do.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I believe that we all have two kinds of teachers in our life, those that show us what to do, and those that show us what not to do. Both set examples that we can use as a roadmap to follow the positive steps, innovate and improve them if we can, while avoiding the pitfalls of those teachers that came into our life to show us what not to do.
I happened to be blessed with both. My mother and grandmother have always been strong role models in my life, offering support and helping me to believe in myself even when I felt like giving up. I’ve had wonderful mentors in both business and life that have allowed me to learn from their experience and allowed me the opportunity to make my own mistakes.
My husband Richard, has been a grounding force in my life. He has been a friend, and support team and I very much enjoy building this wonderful life with him.
Most people think of only those who are older than us that we can learn from, however I have learned perhaps the most about life from our 4 children. They have opened my heart, my mind, and my willingness to forgive more than anyone else in my life. I am eternally grateful for the lessons I’ve learned along the way and I want to do everything I can to pave the road for as many young children as possible to believe that they are Limitless Children.
