We had the good fortune of connecting with Tay Blackman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tay, what’s your definition for success?
Success is the continuous pursuit of a meaningful goal. For me, it’s not just about achieving success; it’s about finding unrelenting joy in doing what you love and loving what you do, which is the true reward of patient effort.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I own and operate Denver’s only authentic Japanese Head Spa, where we offer tailored treatments that target your hair and scalps biggest issues. What truly sets us apart is meticulous attention to detail on everything we do ensuring that the traditional result proven methods used are carried forward with a modern twist, those are some of the fundamental differences I learned from my teacher that sets head spas apart. A Japanese Head Spa isn’t solely focused on relaxation it serves a greater purpose to address every client’s individual needs which is often overlooked. The project I’m most proud and excited about is, I will be teaming up with a select set of women’s outreach programs to offer those in need free head spa treatments, this is a cause near to me as I understand those struggles personally and how much feeling rejuvenated as a woman can be game changing. I’ve always ran my own businesses from various food & fashion ventures to success and of course some not so much but I continue to push myself to pursue things that inspire me and give me a sense of purpose to wake
up to knowing I’m helping others. Starting any business is never easy but a lot of what your learn from the short falls are adaptive to your new opportunities, ultimately people buy from people, not always a polished brand.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First, kick off the week with a delicious breakfast at Call Your Mother, where you’ll find the best bagels in the city. Trust me, these bagels are life-changing! Then we embark on a picturesque drive to Strawberry Park Hot Springs. Spend the day hiking through stunning landscapes and then relax in the natural hot springs, soaking in the breathtaking views. On the way back, stop by Hong Kong Station for their fantastic lunchtime special. Afterward, explore some local attractions or just stroll around and take in the vibes of the city. Finally, get ready for an epic evening with a concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a special shout out to my beautiful, amazing, and loving daughter Acyrah. Thank you for bringing so much joy, happiness, & inspiration into my life. Every moment with you has been a precious gift, and I feel so grateful to have you by my side. I also want to express my deepest gratitude to my incredible husband Shaun.
