Meet Taylor Bailey | Independent Artist Manager

We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Bailey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
For years since moving to Colorado I wanted to work in the music industry. I quickly learned that this industry can become a popularity contest and that many people that should work in the industry will never get the opportunity to do so. I worked hard to create my space in this field and wanted to offer other people the platform that I wasn’t given when I first started out. I chose to create my own business not only to offer passionate individuals the opportunity to gain the experience, knowledge, and connections that may otherwise not be available to them, but also to give them a platform to discover their talents and take a leap into the industry that so many dedicated people are being left out of.

What should our readers know about your business?
I chose to create my own talent management firm because when I began as an Independent Artist Manager I realized I had no idea what I was doing. I put in countless hours learning the tricks of the trade, expanding upon knowledge about the business, and finding connections and contacts for my clients without a clue what I was doing. With all the “no’s” and non-responses, I realized how discouraging this work could be, and that there’s very few people out there that are willing to take a chance on someone. But I also realized that once someone does take a chance on you, the work is some of the most rewarding work I’ve ever done.

I wanted to create a platform for other people to succeed in this industry and overcome some of the challenges and frustrations I experienced when I started. The team I’ve built is full of some of the most talented, passionate, and driven people I’ve ever met. And the most important thing to me was that they all said that they’ve been wanting to be involved in the music industry for as long as they could remember, but didn’t know where to start, and that’s what I’m most proud of. My partners and I have always felt that it was important to us to provide people with opportunity that they couldn’t find elsewhere, and to give people this platform not because they knew the right person, or greased the right palms, but because they deserved it.

The most important message for our brand and story is to “represent the under-represented”. We are a team dedicated to passion, talent, and drive because the way we see it, the last time you gave up on something, how did you know you weren’t almost there?

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Until the end of time I will thank and attribute my success to Mike Knopping. From the very beginning, Mike has always seen my talent, drive, and dedication and has been one of my biggest supporters along the way. Not only through the amazing community he’s built and welcomed me into through Party Guru Productions, but through his friendship, advice, and knowledge, Mike has truly been the most amazing mentor, supervisor, and friend along the way. If it weren’t for him, I never would’ve discovered where I was meant to take my career.

I also have to give a shoutout to my squad (Illuminati (WKHTP) what’s upppp). My friends are my biggest fans and without them constantly pushing me, supporting me, showing up to my events, and more, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I always dreamed of having that friend group you see on TV that supports each other and always has each other’s backs and I never thought I’d be as lucky to find those friends like I have today. To Micah, Brigitte, Nick, Madi, Madison, Kim, Bela, and my partner in life and crime, Abe, I wouldn’t have anything without you. I love you all so much and I can’t wait to see where our lives take us over the years!

Lastly, to Abe. I have to give a special second shoutout to you. When I lost what I thought was the best job I ever had less than a year ago, I was ready to just keep going and get another job I hated just to make it by. The moment you looked at me and said “you love the music business and you’re so passionate about it, why aren’t you doing it?”, everything changed. I never would’ve taken this leap without your constant support and motivation.
