We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Davenport and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taylor, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
To be honest I never thought I would be owning my own photography business. Right after high School I went to a Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design and was planning to become an art teacher . I was there for 2 years and then a friend of mine was planning to get married and ask me to photograph her wedding. At this point I had only been shooting film photography and a little digital. let’s just say after that wedding back in 2017 Taylor Davenport photography was created. I have been a full time photographer for little over a year and it has been so amazing.I never thought that my love for photography would turn into my career, where I get to photograph people in love in the places they love. I am incredibly honored that My clients trust and allow me to be part of such intimate moments, moments that they are able to save for a lifetime.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My name is Taylor, I am an Intimate Wedding/Elopement and Lifestyle Photographer based out of Golden, Colorado. I love to create images that embodies real raw emotions. I make sure to capture my clients personality and the love they have for each other. I use lots of different tools to create unique and fun images to stand out and create art that I love.
No small business has had a smooth road to get where they are now. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes. The hardest part of being a business owner and a creative is comparing yourself to others. I am good enough? Will people like my photos and book me? Will I make money and be able to do this as a job?
So much goes through your head, you have to push it all away and keep moving forward. All the self-doubt didn’t matter, my main goal was to turn my photography passion into a working business. I have learned so much over these last 5 years, and I am still learning and evolving every day, as a business owner and as an artist.
