Meet Teresa Calderon-Rouse | Lash Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Teresa Calderon-Rouse and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Teresa, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My motivation stemmed from observing the standards at my previous place of employment and realizing I wanted to offer more. I set out to elevate those standards by prioritizing lash health above all else. I also wanted the freedom to own my time and create a space that raised the bar without overcharging clients. My goal has always been to provide exceptional lash services that maintain both quality and affordability.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career began with a simple desire—to create something that felt different, intentional, and rooted in care. I started as a lash artist working under others, but I quickly realized I wanted to raise the standard of what beauty services could be. I saw clients being treated like numbers, and I wanted to change that by focusing on lash health, artistry, and experience. That vision became Sinful Beauty—a space where luxury meets authenticity, and where every client feels seen, valued, and beautiful.
What sets me apart is the heart behind the work. I don’t just create beautiful lashes—I build confidence, connection, and community. I’m proud of how far this dream has come, from working long hours and learning through trial and error to now owning a full salon that continues to grow and evolve.
It definitely wasn’t easy. There were moments of doubt, setbacks, and sacrifices, but each challenge pushed me to become stronger and more intentional. I learned the importance of patience, boundaries, and believing in your own vision even when others don’t see it yet.
What I want the world to know about Sinful Beauty is that it’s more than a salon—it’s a reflection of everything I’ve built with love, faith, and hard work. It’s a place where artistry meets integrity, and where clients become part of a family.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting for a week, I’d want to show them exactly why I fell in love with Colorado Springs — the perfect mix of beauty, creativity, and good vibes.
We’d start the week slow with a brunch at Urban Egg (their mimosas are unmatched), then spend the afternoon exploring Garden of the Gods — because no trip here is complete without that view. For dinner, I’d take them to Saltgrass Steakhouse, one of my favorite spots for an amazing menu with gluten free options.
Midweek, we’d go downtown for some shopping. Of course, I’d have to bring them by Sinful Beauty for a little pampering — lashes, a blowout, maybe some hair tinsel — the full glam experience!
Later in the week, we’d drive up Pikes Peak or spend a day in Manitou Springs wandering the art shops and grabbing ice cream. Evenings would be for relaxing, sipping cocktails at Lulu’s Downstairs, or just hanging out under the stars talking about life.
Colorado Springs has such a creative, uplifting energy — from its mountain views to its small businesses — and that’s what I’d want my best friend to experience most: the mix of beauty, soul, and community that makes this place special

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout first and foremost to my husband, my greatest supporter throughout this entire journey. To my children, Andrew and Savannah, and my daughter-in-law, Mercedes, who is now a part of Sinful Beauty. To my incredible friends—Kristie, Melanie, Brianna, Kari, and Merissa—whose constant encouragement and referrals have meant so much. And to all of my past and current clients who have trusted in my work and continued to share their support through referrals—thank you from the bottom of my heart.
