Meet Tereza & Lubos Czechthemountains | Hikers & fundraisers

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tereza & Lubos Czechthemountains and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tereza & Lubos, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As we do love hiking and śpending time in nature. We thought that our hobby of thruhiking needed a higher purpose and could benefit more people than just us. We decided to start fundraising for people with spinal cord injuries so they are able to come back to nature and enjoy the healing vibes of being outdoors. More at www.czechthemountains.com

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We moved from Czech Republic to Canada back in 2013 because of its beautiful nature and wilderness. After a couple of years working as an caregiver, I (Tereza) felt burned out and needed to restart and reconnect with myself and Lubos. So we decided to do the Pacific Crest Trail (2650 miles from Mexico to Canada). It was an amazing experience and we quickly realized that we didn’t want to spend our lives in a job that we didn’t enjoy. From there, we started looking for different ways to be able to spend more time in the mountains but still live comfortable. We saved money for 2 years to have enough for next thru-hike (CDT 3000miles ) and add fundraising for SCI BC this time. Our plan is to became successful fundraisers and travel the world by helping others with different struggles. CDT is about hiking and connecting with earth, yourself, and whoever joins you on a deeper level. We believe that nature should be accessible/ available for everyone. The inspiration came from our dear friend Brad (you can read more about his story here: https://www.
When it comes to growth for the business/fundraising, I have ideas and aspirations about education for all… But we will see, let’s finish first task first!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
US national parks are amazing! White sands dunes, Grand Canyon, Antelope canyon, Joshua tree… But we would definitely recommend going to the mountains with friends. For example: part of Colorado trail for a week trip sounds great – San Juan mountains definitely took our hearts in the good way. We loved Lake City – best burgers at Packer Saloon Cannibal Grill. Salida is a cool, hip town to go to with much to see and do. Colorado Springs is against the front range and is a fun stop. Plus they have great breweries (like Pikes Peak Brewery) and that would be a great finishing destination. Nothing is better than cold beer after days in the mountains!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We would like to let world know about amazing and talented lucied.ca because she did all our designs for Czechthemountains. Also mountainmornings.ca for her help and support with creating stickers for our CDT fundraising. Also thank you to all those who have donated and supported us through this journey!
