Meet Teri Washington | Activist, Outreach for the Homeless

We had the good fortune of connecting with Teri Washington and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Teri, what do you want your legacy to be?
Activists, I want people to remember me as Helping the Homeless. And passing bills to accommodate there needs.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I Outreach to the houseless from Monday-Wednesday every week to make sure that they have what they need on a daily bases out there on the streets.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to a couple of Colorado’s parks, like Estes park, Garden of the Gods, the casinos, the seafood restaurant Juicey, BBQ restaurant in Littleton, Co. I don’t drink, but if they drink. Most of the restaurants have a bar with drinks of there choice. We will go shopping in the surrounding malls. And I also will cook dinner of my choice as a surprise. Go visit relatives. Also got to the movies. Just a little fun.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
HAND (HOUSEKEYS ACTION NETWORK DENVER). The person I would love to recognize. Teri Washington. I devote my time to outreach to the houseless because of the experience I have went through. The struggles of going through Colorado’s system of homelessness. GOD has been with me the whole time. I also Thank Mary Anna also for sharing her story. She helped me understand the reality of making change.
