We had the good fortune of connecting with Terra Koontz and Risso Schulze and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Terra, Carissa, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We wanted to create a salon space that both us and our clients truly loved. We cater to a more diverse and alternative clientele and wanted to provide a comfortable place for those people to get their hair done. Most of our favorite clients were ravers and alternative people, so we knew we needed to create a salon that would attract more of those clients. By starting and EDM based hair salon, we’ve been able to attract our ideal clientele so that we love our job while our clients can love their hair!
 

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We offer some or the best vivid hair coloring and festival braiding in Denver. Our hair art is unique as we do cater towards the festival community. We aren’t afraid to push the boundaries of creativity which allows us to create some of the most unique and cool hair you’ve ever seen.

It’s been a difficult journey to get where we are today, just like running any business there’s bumps in the road. We’ve just had to keep pushing and know everything will turn out well. Having confidence in our brand has helped us continue to grow.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I dont spend much time in the city, i would do mostly outdoors stuff. In the city I would take them to Meow Wolf, down 16th street mall, and to Sante Fe Art District.

Outdoors i would take them hiking in Nederland, Rocky Mountain National Park, and Boulder.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Carissa and I both help support each other. We are always there to encourage and congratulate each other. This helps us both grow together.
