Meet Tiffany McCray: Aesthetician / Makeup Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany McCray and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffany, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started my business as a single mom, I wanted to be able to have the flexibility to be there for my son. It was extremely important to not miss important moments, I also wanted to show my son that I could be a successful business owner. I think what sets me apart from the rest, is my 24 years of experience in the industry. Which has allowed me the opportunity to connect with my clientele who eventually become more like friends / family. The satisfaction I get when I make my clients feel beautiful not only on the outside, but the inside as well. I really believe I am successful because of my clients.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Remarkably, this is the first year I’ve had to start thinking about advertising. For the most part, I have been really blessed with the power of word of mouth. A good referral is the best compliment I can ever receive. Trust me when I say the road to success is difficult, but it can be the most rewarding journey at the same time. With any business there will be slow months. During this time I would post on social media making my presence known. Each story would give insight to my followers of my day to day work life while also promoting my services. When business is slow I’ve always tried to have an optimistic approach and to never give up.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take my best friend to Rino. The Rino district is such a vivid place to really enjoy boutique shopping, outdoor dining and the nightlife while also overlooking the city’s art district. Colorado is beyond beautiful and continues to give its residents life. Whether it’s experiencing the beautiful outdoors or enjoying the city life. Colorado has so much to offer!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost I would like to thank my son. I started my own company because I was a single mom and I wanted the freedom to be at my son’s school to help volunteer with snacks and field trips throughout the year. I also have my deceased husband to thank for essentially starting my makeup career. Married at a young age my makeup career became the soul income due to the fact that my husband was unable to work because of a lupus diagnosis. At this difficult time my husband knew a friend who worked at the Clinique counter and helped me get my foot in the makeup industry. The moment I touched a makeup brush on a clients face I knew this was my passion and I was in the right industry. This became the start of my 24 year long beauty career.
