We had the good fortune of connecting with Todd Rall and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Todd, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I had been working another time-consuming albeit lucrative job at the time we were expecting our second daughter. I was unhappy in that position and it became clear I needed to be with my family more. I had already been dabbling in real estate at the time and knew I wanted to make a career of it so with my wife’s support I took the leap!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We are a local team of experienced professionals who have been serving the community for over a decade. Our team’s success is built on our dedication to our clients, our community, and our profession. We take pride in providing honest, transparent, and ethical services, and we always strive to go above and beyond to achieve the best possible outcome for our clients. We pride ourselves in being a 95% referral-based team meaning we get almost all of our business from word of mouth and from our happy past clients telling their friends and family about us. We did not start here of course and will forever be learning-based and constantly evolving. Being authentic and coming from contribution, not sales, we continue to support our local community and they love us back.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Milford may be a small town on the grand scale but there is much to do and we love this place. Proving Grounds Coffee is usually my first and sometimes second stop each day so stopping in there to get some great coffee and socialize with the locals is a must. While we are already downtown visiting the local shop owners on the main street would be our next stop we have a variety of stores including clothing, kitchen supplies, furniture, pet supplies, and one of our favorites a toy store! You can’t go wrong with any of the local eateries some of my favs would be Palate, Charlies on Main, and Smokestreet BBQ. Evenings can be topped off with a stop at a local staple, The Red Dog Saloon with great music and drinks. During the day we love to visit the local parks including Kensington where you can fish, hike, boat, or our favorite visit the farm center and all the new baby farm animals! Canoeing down the Huron River is also an option with easy access to central park and the local brewery.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This is an easy one for me…It’s my wife Nicole. Before jumping into real estate full time we had accomplished quite a bit we had a new house we had just built, great jobs, and beautiful children, and things were going well but she knew I wasn’t happy with where I was professionally and without hesitation and with the risk of all things falling apart she encouraged me to follow my dream of owning a real estate team. Leaving the security and benefits of my previous career and going into business for yourself was quite a risk at the time with all we had going on and she didn’t care she wanted me to be happy and for that reason, I will always be grateful. Since then I have met quite a few people who have been influential to help me get to where I am today some of which include Marian Benton, she has done it all in this business while being one of the best humans on this earth. Martin Bouma is a guy who is running a massive business himself and always has time for me and my questions. Erin Mckenzie and the MI Roots group for all the texts and phone calls and sometimes therapy lol for keeping me grounded and always being a great support group.
