We had the good fortune of connecting with Torri Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Torri, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think about risk as being an essential part of being human. Some risks are bigger than others. Every time you step outside of your home, you’re taking a risk. Every time you say yes or no to a question, you are taking a risk. I think it is important to evaluate risks and decide if the outcome(s) is worth it. Taking risks has played a huge part in my personal life and my career. I was born and raised in West Virginia. My nineteen year old self decided to take a risk and move to Florida to attend Florida State University. I did not know a single person who lived in Florida, but I wanted to see what life was like outside of my home. That decision ended up changing the course of my life forever. After I graduated college in 2020, I met my now fiancé James. After dating for a few years, he got a job opportunity in Denver, Colorado. We took the risk, and moved across the country! Before we moved, I decided to quit my job in finance and start a new career here in Denver. I thought long and hard about what I wanted out of a career. After much thought, I decided to become a real estate agent. Being in real estate is a huge risk. We never know how the housing market will be, you’re not guaranteed a paycheck every month, and making sales relies solely on you. I’m very happy with the risks I have taken so far in life. Without risk, there is no change.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Owning a business is a lot of work. The hours aren’t the same day to day, when issues arise you are solely responsible for the resolution, and much more. What sets me apart from others is my attitude. I believe some things are not meant to work out because there is something better and/or more aligned with what you need. I’m a cheerleader for my clients. I want my clients to walk away from a transaction not only satisfied, but I want to exceed their expectations. I want to go above and beyond for my clients because I believe you get what you give. I’m so proud of taking a leap of faith and starting a career that has so many unknowns. I’m excited to help people achieve their goals. There is nothing more gratifying than helping others. I was lucky enough to have connections in the real estate world and to have mentors help me when needed. To this day, they are helping me with my business and I wouldn’t be where I am without them. They encourage me to learn, to fail, to try new things, and give me advice. Failing can be looked at as a bad thing or something you can learn from. I believe failing is a part of success. As they say, “No rain, no flowers”. Real estate is a hard career to get started, especially when you do not know many people in the area. That has been one of the biggest struggles for my business. To overcome this, I have made connections at open houses, attended local events, and gone out of my way to meet new people wherever I am. I have learned that it is better to be genuine when making connections rather than forcing a relationship. I want the world to know that I am genuine, kind hearted, and love to have fun! I want others who know my story to be inspired to take risks, to fail, and to always be yourself.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were to visit, I would definitely take them on some hikes! I love going to Roxborough State Park (there is a trail for everyone), the Boulder Flatirons, Maxwell Falls Lower Trail in Evergreen, and Saint Mary’s Glacier. Some of my favorite lunch spots include Snarf’s, Cheba Hut, Lake House Kitchen and Tavern, Hummus Goodness (Chicken Philly), and The Cherry Cricket. I would take them to visit the Nature and Science Museum, The Denver Zoo, Denver Botanical Gardens, Washington Park, Nuggets Game at Ball Arena, and Meow Wolf. For dinner I would take them to Bruno’s Bistro on Broadway, The Hungry Goat in Morrison, ChoLon downtown, JINYA for ramen, and AJ’s Pit Bar-B-Q. For a good night out, I would take them to Happy Camper in the Highlands, 54thirty Rooftop Bar, Herbs downtown, and Jackson’s for a good sports bar. In the winter I love taking my friends to the mountain to ski or snowboard. In the warmer months I also love to white water raft! The Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park is also a blast! In my opinion, one of the best things you can do in Colorado is going outside. The weather is glorious and the mountains are absolutely beautiful. The people of Denver are some of the nicest people you will meet in a metro area. I love living here and I enjoy when people come to visit!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to give a shoutout to my fiancé James Tilbrook. He loves and supports me in whatever I want to do. He believes in me and gives me confidence to do anything. I would not be where I am without him. He is such a hard worker and inspires me to wake up every morning and get things done. He is not afraid to conquer his fears and get out of his comfort zone. He is the true definition of what a supportive partner looks like and I’m so lucky to have him by my side.
