We had the good fortune of connecting with Katharine aka Kat Glaub and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katharine aka Kat, how do you think about risk?
With having a son and also working another job it was about the home life understanding how busy I was about to come. My significant other saw my talent and told me,” this is your life niche!”
I worked as a full time florist before I had my kid, and it was early / long hours. The company I worked for before also had me on a remodel team so I knew what this new adventure had in store.. I am now a one team florist not a company.
Now I also could express my true design capabilities, which also requires sacrifice.
Space in a floral business is hard. My S.O. built a walk in cooler downstairs so I can achieve my goals. “Dreams”
Building, marketing and being a mom is a structured life that takes small sacrifices and understanding.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am an event florist with 12 plus years experience. With the world and trends changing I have learn all the new trends. Earth safe sustainable floristry has become a new passion with understanding the technic.
With summer coming to an end in Colorado we try really hard to stay local. With that being said, during off time we go with companies that are also conscious of this same practice.
We use biodegradable and reusable mechanics and only fresh (biodegradable) florals.
This is not easy! How to teach an old pet new tricks! Well, in my head … “No if ands or Butts!” I get it done and do it right.
I had a lot of learning curves and struggles, but that’s OK. We over come the obstacles and success will come out in the practice.
We strive for our clients to have unique florals and events that are truly created around them. We love seeing their creativity in the inspiration boards they send over and being able to create it to who they are!
My favorite part of being an event florist for our company is seeing the reactions! Having a couple walk in and sees their dreams come to life is truly a win and such a heart felt feeling that is hard to describe.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I may be a home body ,but I do love a great time sometimes. My week long adventure would probably start of in Idaho springs. Best pizza at the original Beau Jo’s pizza and the Indian hot springs. Who doesn’t love that mix! Next would be a night at The Eddy Taphouse in Golden. Fantastic food trucks, music on the weekends.. catch a night stay in the modern yet moutain hotel rooms and it’s not far from Denver! Then I’d go down to Denver for the haunted ghost restaurant tour. Absolutely great food, drinks and history! Grab a reservation at the Jacquard Hotel and shop cherry creek strip. Amazing food, spas and walking through the park.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shout out to my family and friends. Prior I had spoken about how my son and significant other had to make sacrifices for this.
My son is always asking and wanting to hear about the clients reactions, and it truly is inspiring for both of us in the long run. He understands and is seeing his mother strive with success and I’m blessed to know he is supporting and watching a positive growth for his life.
My love of my life has bent over backwards to help me create something from the bottom and is truly admiring. Buliding a floral cooler, helping me with delivery, and really having my back with this floristry has been such a blessing!
My parent’s, family and friend’s continue to cheer me on when I’m on my way to leads and or clients.
Having such a positive group behind you is key !
