We had the good fortune of connecting with Traci Remley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Traci, how does your business help the community?

We strive to buy only from small artists. The little guy. The hustlers. 99% of the products I carry are handmade, local and tons have social good goals behind them. Dear Survivor and Purpose jewelry for example is gorgeous jewelry and profits go to support women rescued from sex trafficking. I sell a brand call Headbands for Hope and they donate one headband to a child with cancer every time a headband is sold. All of the products that I sell are by “the little guys”. They are makers doing what they love and giving back to their communities. It really is the greatest way I can think to shop!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

Although I rarely create my own art anymore my entire business is comprised of artists. Small jewelry makers, ceramics, textiles, painters, and even my own kids are just a small example of the types of artists represented at my store.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

We’d start off with a shopping trip in downtown Castle Rock and of course The Barn would be our first stop. We’d get beers at Sienna across the street and then go play with our kids at Phillip S Miller Park. Then we’d do a Colorado Springs trip and hit up Garden of The Gods and if our kids are with us we’d spend a day at The North Pole! We would for sure take a trip up to Buena Vista and play in Mount Princeton hot springs after skiing at Monarch mountain. Main Street in BV has so many adorable coffee shops and restaurants so we’d hit as many as we could!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

There are SO many people in my village that have cheered me on, picked me up and given me the kick in the butt I’ve needed. Other then my sweet family and my parents of course there are 2 people that really have shaped my business. Amy Smith of Whitewash and Jen Thyrion of Love Harper Boutique. Amy took me under her wing when I was first starting out. She didn’t hold back any of the good information that many people hold close to their chests. She gave me great trade secrets and coaching that I will forever be grateful for. In a business that is often marked by competition she valued collaboration over competition. I try my hardest to pay that forward when meeting new people in my industry. Jen has the same “better together” mentality and she really gave me the kick in the butt I needed to get my online store launched this fall. She offered advise and encouragement and never asked for anything in return. She really is a gem of a human!
