We had the good fortune of connecting with Tricia Turpenoff and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tricia, why did you pursue a creative career?
I have always been creative. My Aunt and Uncle bought me my first camera when I was 5 years old. I was hooked and ever since then I have had a passion to know more, learn more and be the best at my craft and at customer service!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am proud as an artist to say that my most favorite thing is to photograph my clients as their best self, showing off a slice of their essence. I do not follow a theme, protocol or cookie cutter way of photographing. I get to know my client in a meaningful way and photograph them in all their glory. I have been a professional photographer for almost 30 years and my love of my clients and my process is easy and really celebrates my client. Overcoming 2008 was the most difficult time in my business life. It was like a free fall that I didn’t ask for or want. I know now that going back to the beginning and building a stronger foundation is the key to having a successful business. Joining a group that makes your heart sing and showing up every month, every time builds confidence in the people around you. It takes time to build that confidence and trust. It is so worth the time and energy, so don’t give up, keep going and showing up!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would start off at Urban Egg in downtown Colorado Springs Visit the new Olympic Museum Grab lunch at the fabulous Shuga’s Take a hike or drive at Garden of the Gods Check out Manitou Springs and The Cliff House Grab Dinner at The Famous Steak House Chill out at home

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this shout out to my husband Jake Bourgoin, My friend and coach Julie Miller Davis and my friend and mentor Betsy Clark. Without these 3 people I would not be the success I have become. My husband is my rock, my supporter and my never ending cheerleader. Julie Miller Davis has been my coach for almost a year. Her programming speaks to me. I was ready for it and have taken all her teaching and applied it to my business and life with passion and consistency! Betsy Clark is someone that I can call upon when I need an ear to listen and a word nerd to make my copy really sing. Mostly, she is the wisest woman I know. She is someone who can bring me back to joy in a matter of minutes! My heart felt gratitude to all of you!
