We had the good fortune of connecting with Tuck Nuisance and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tuck, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born in Fort Collins, Colorado, but spent most of my childhood in Highland, Indiana. My early years were anything but stable I bounced around a lot before my family eventually settled there. Growing up in a hostile environment, I became no stranger to the streets, the struggle, or survival.

Violence, poverty, and the absence of support systems shaped me early. I witnessed things no kid should ever see and went through things most never recover from. I lost a lot of friends to the streets, to prison, or worse. Truth is, if I hadn’t moved back to Fort Collins, where I currently reside I’d probably be dead or locked up too.

Through all the chaos, music became my peace. Whether I was writing lyrics, recording in closets, or zoning out to beats, it gave me an outlet my escape, my therapy, my purpose.

As Tuck Nuisance, I tell the story of struggle, pain, and growth from firsthand experience. I record, write, produce, animate, and create everything myself because no one gave me a lane. I had to build my own. My past gave me a raw perspective, but it also built character. I learned how to survive, how to adapt, and most importantly, how to channel all that energy into something bigger than myself. I’m not just telling my story I’m showing others that no matter how you start, you can still rise.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a jack of all trades there’s really no lane you can box me into. I’m the kind of artist who can collaborate with almost anyone and still match the energy, tone, and style of the record. That versatility is what sets me apart. I’m especially proud of my debut album Burden To The World a 14-track project with only three features, and every part of it came from the ground up.

Everything I know, I taught myself mixing, producing, writing, recording all through trial, error, and hours of studying on YouTube. I started making music at 13, but I’ve loved it since before I could even fully speak, memorizing songs word-for-word as a kid. The journey hasn’t been easy, but I’ve learned there’s nothing out of reach if you stay focused.

At the end of the day, I want the world to know that I’m living proof you can build something out of nothing. My story and my sound are both one of one and I’m just getting started

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
If there’s anyone I have to shout out, it’s my mom. She doesn’t get nearly enough credit for everything she’s been through and everything she’s done for us. I never had a dad in the picture, so she had to play both roles and I know that wasn’t easy. Even though my childhood wasn’t the smoothest, she was always there, doing whatever she could to provide for me and my siblings. She deserves the world.
