We had the good fortune of connecting with Vanessa and Andrew Dominguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vanessa and Andrew, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I think as with a lot of people during the pandemic, we felt burnt out and stuck. We knew we had the potential, the desire and skills but we needed that driving force to put us out of our comfort zone and into something we love. I know we both have always dreamed of working for ourselves, to have creative power and to build the life we want on our terms. When working our 9-5 jobs, it was more or less the same thing every day. There is no freedom to express yourself, you don’t have a a lot of choice or autonomy, and it left us wanting. We felt we were working for someone else’s dream without taking the time to focus on ours.

Now we get to do both. We help others work toward their dreams while we get to work towards ours, collaborating with like-minded people whether Realtors, home owners, or business owners. Every day is different and rewarding, we make meaningful business relationships, and have the freedom to be creative and we couldn’t ask for much more.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
We are most proud of our personal growth since starting this business. There were days when we thought it was impossible, or that we weren’t cutout for it. The growing pains have been real, but we have taken our setbacks and learned from them and grew from them. It gets us so excited, to see how much we have learned so far and wondering what the next 6 months, year or two years will bring. It wasn’t and isn’t easy, and we still have so much to learn and there will be plenty of hard lessons along the way. I think we have already learned so many, and we are genuinely so grateful that we learned them. Early on I don’t think we could have imagined that we now laugh at the mistakes we have made and be happy for it because of the lessons we learned, but here we are! We have learned so much after computer crashes, late night edits, malfunctioning hard drives, forgetting to eat and almost passing out on a shoot, not taking that shot you aren’t 100% sure about!

I think what sets us apart from other businesses in the industry is our personal touch, the collaboration and customer service we provide. For us, this isn’t just a job, it is a direct extension of ourselves and we only want the best for our clients. Our brand is Vanessa and Andrew, we just happen to also do photography and videography!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We love the downtown district in Loveland where we live, and Fort Collins where we used to live. We would have to walk around and browse the unique shops and restaurants, visit Door 222, grab a coffee at Dark Heart Coffee Bar! We would have to visit Estes Park, which holds a special place in our hearts and family. The drive alone is an adventure and memory to cherish.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Each and every one of our family members deserves a shoutout for their unwavering support. From grandparents, parents, aunts and siblings, and especially our kids. A big shoutout should go to my aunt Ginny Hogan, who has always inspired me, mentored me and encouraged me every step of the way. Her wisdom and support is worth millions and I feel so lucky that I get it for free. She understands the industry, the growing pains of running a business and ins and outs of real estate, and how to do it all gracefully while being a parent. We are so thankful for her!
