We had the good fortune of connecting with Viridiana Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Viridiana, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting my own business began with thinking about the flexibility it would afford me. Being my own boss allows me the freedom to be as creative as I would like, and to choose how much work I take on. Work and life balance was the foundation that set me on this course.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve been a Photographer for 10+ years. When I started there was this idea you take photos of everything that comes your way because you simply have a Camera. Thankfully all these years have taught me a lesson that has helped me define my work. Focusing on photographing what I personally love is better because it refined my skills. It’s definitely a case of Quality over Quantity. I love my work to feel Timeless & a bit Vintage with hints of Romance and joy. I’ve been able to do this by Photographing couples on their special days. Weddings, Elopements & the good old case of we need new updated photos. I absolutely love my job and I am most proud of the relationships I have built with Clients their families and the countless vendors who work so hard. It’s definitely a hard industry but when you focus on the people it’s worth it.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Colorado is so big it’s hard to narrow it down to one city. Here are my favorite places I will take anyone to Brainard lake in Ward Colorado, only 45 minutes from Denver with easy trails and breathtaking views. On a nice summer afternoon, you can see moose, now that’s a real Colorado experience. On our way down the mountain, we can enjoy a nice dinner in the boulder area, either at the Beer garden or the Post. However you are talking to a Small town girl here and Colorado nights are always more enjoyable with a bonfire on our property listing to some owls, I am not even kidding I hear them almost every night.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are many people who have helped me in this journey Sheree Montoya & Joe Mcglasson with JCmctoya photography helped me get started in the words of weddings and portraits!
Tess Schilke mentorship elevated my work immensely.
And currently, Kyle Goldie is my business coach.
