We had the good fortune of connecting with Vivian Darst and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vivian, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My business, Wild and In Love Photo, helps the community by showing you there is an option in the way you get married. The idea that an elopement is not a “real” wedding because it’s not the typical “traditional” way of getting married is so untrue!

A wedding day is when two people say their vows, commit to each other, and have a day that is important to them. Elopement couples will have a more intentional wedding day that is truly focused on their love and connection instead of a performance for 100+ guests and their expectations.

Wild and In Love Photo inspires couples to have an intimate and meaningful experience, freedom to say their vows in a place that is old and memorable to them or somewhere new and exciting that they’ve always dreamed of, and being intentional with who they invite on their wedding day.

It is possible to go hike to an alpine lake next to a field of wildflowers to say your vows, book a private jeep tour to explore the mountains on your wedding day, pop champagne in the forest to celebrate your marriage, or ATV up a mountain to have a picnic. Elopements are whatever you want it to be!

If your heart is leaning towards eloping but you are afraid to follow your heart because your family wants you to do a big traditional wedding.

Just know that YOU deserve a wedding day of your dreams and if eloping is more your vibe know then it’s going to be way better than you could have ever imagined!

Have an authentic day that is truly all about you and your partner and none of that unnecessary drama!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from other Adventure Elopement Photographers is that I have the skills and knowledge in a lot of outdoor activities and locations. I have helped couples elope by rock climbing, mountain biking, off-roading, ATVing, skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and hiking.

I scout locations all over Colorado for my couples. I have a lot of couples coming from outer state so I make sure to send them the perfect locations for their elopement vision based on miles, trail stats, views, and accessibility.

I follow the Leave No Trace Principles so we can ensure that we will have these locations available to us in the future. It’s important to me that my couples can go back to the exact location they said their vows 10+ years down the track.

Overall, I will capture your love in wild and epic places!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’ll start in my hometown – Colorado Springs! We’d go hiking at Garden of the Gods to all the secret spots that I know, North Cheyenne Cañon Park, and Red Rocks Open Space. We’d have some drinks at Trails End Taproom and eat at Rabbit Hole or Cerberus. Drive up Pikes Peak then head over to Breckenridge for some more hiking and explore this cute mountain town.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to give a shoutout to my husband, Alexander Darst, who has been so supportive in my business endeavors. He has encouraged me so much to follow my dream! We eloped in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. Alex and I knew that we didn’t want a big traditional wedding so we did a hiking elopement. We got changed in the woods, and hiked up to a mountain cliff to say our vows. It was truly a magical experience. I would have never known about Adventure Elopements without him. Thank you for being an amazing husband, Alex.
