We had the good fortune of connecting with Wally Carney and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Wally, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind the success of LOWDED has definitely been staying consistent and dedicated. In 2012 LOWDED originated from a group of friends in the beginning of it all. At the time we were all active duty Air Force and separated throughout 2 different states; we constantly ran into work schedule barriers such as deployments or temporary duty assignments that hindered the full and true fruition of what we had conceptualized for LOWDED and unfortunately the brand/business was abandoned and dissolved. Fast forward to 2020 and LOWDED still something I wanted to pursue, I started all over with a different vision while staying persistent through all of the unexpected battles you run into starting a business and brand especially by yourself. My consistency and dedication are the main proponents to the successfulness of what LOWDED has been able to accomplish thus far.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Besides LOWDED being a main focus career wise, I wouldn’t be here from what has continuously developed and challenged my mindset and that’s firefighting. I’ve been a firefighter going on 14 years now and I have a true sense of passion and pride for the job. My enlistment as a firefighter in the Air Force for 6.5 years paved the way for where I am today professionally. I take a lot of what I do firefighting and try and apply it to all aspects of life such as being dependable, providing a quality service, and being personable. All of these characteristics I’ve managed to embody has translated into the creation and achievement of LOWDED. The process of creating LOWDED has not been a seamless process, I’ve been a one man band show for the creative design, website development, marketing, social media, and resource management to name just a few. How I’ve overcome the challenges is by welcoming them, I take every challenge as an opportunity to learn and expand. The lessons that I have learned along the way is to network and listen to other business minded individuals story. If there was anything I wanted the world to know about LOWDED it would be that LOWDED is an iconic logo and brand that is here to bond between luxury fashion and urban streetwear.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was here visiting the city for a week we would definitely hit up the Denver Art Museum, The Museum of Contemporary Art, and the MEOW Wolf Exhibit. Union Station, Avanti, Pindustry, and The Rhino District would definitely be places we ventured out to as well. As far as food, some of my favorite staples in the city would be Daughter Thai Kitchen and Bar, Blue Oyster Sushi and Seafood, Linger, STK, Eddie Vs, Ians Pizza and Voodoo donuts to name a few spots. I’ve also have always managed to have a good time on Larimer St. and on Market st.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Right away the recognition that’s deserving goes to my parents who aren’t here anymore, they both led a lifestyle and provided for me under unfavorable conditions, I never went without what I needed or wanted. They both showed me that if you put in the work you can attain anything you want in the world. This is what pushes me daily and provides me the strength and mindset to go after my dreams and take risks doing things that may seem unfathomable.
