Meet Wayne Redovian

We had the good fortune of connecting with Wayne Redovian and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Wayne, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
I spent many years in the corporate world, working long hours, with a large team of people reporting to me. I was traveling all over the country and Europe. it was exciting and fun, however working 80-95 hours a week was not healthy. I have always enjoyed the outdoors and the reason I moved to Colorado after college initially was to be close to skiing. All the outdoor adventures that Colorado has to offer opened up a whole new world.
As I have gotten older I have learned to do the things that are most important to me and my goals. As a father you can see all the time away for work was not ideal in raising a family. You need to be present. It was that point in time that I decided to back off the executive career path I was on for a higher quality family life.
Being competitive in my younger years, I no longer focus being the fastest, or out in front of my firends, colleagues and peers. I now take the time skiing, mountain biking, hiking and traveling to enjoy what surrounds you and all the natural beauty – especially in the American West. That is what started my interest in photography that I have grown to take much more serious in the last 4-5 years. I truely enjoy every aspect of photography. My focus in my photography at the moment is in wildlife, the outdoors, landscapes and the night sky.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Getting to where you are in the business world takes a lot of commitment, hard work, enjoyment of other people as well as taking on risk to put yourself out there. I believe I was sucessful because I always followed though on what I said I was going to do and I always delivered. I have more of an operational focus and drove to get things done.
I am moving away from the corporate way of life. As I start out in the photography world, I have many many things to learn which I love. I truly enjoy photography and all aspects of it. I want to be able to see if I can make a go of it and be sucessful at bringing beautiful works into people’s homes where they can find joy, or touches them about a particular scene that I have been able to capture. Ideally I want to work with people individually to pull together the right image(s) and medium to display that image which will fit perfectly into their homes, or business. I would be honored to curate a series of images, sizes, framing, displays, etc., that will invoke an attachement or emotion whenever they or anyone coming into their space sees it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A best friend visiting Colorado will be shown the outdoor beauty of the area. I would take them on a ski tour of the mountain, mountain biking or hiking, or a drive over some of the mountain passes. Independence Pass is always an impressive and beautiful drive. Anywhere around Colorado in the fall is spectacular. A side trip to Cayonlands, Arches and Moab is also always impressive. I would want to show them the night sky with its infinite amount of stars we so clearly see here. I like good food and drink and would take them to a place that they would feel comfortable. The local Farmer’s Markets are always a fun thing to do with guests, wondering around looking at the goods and the people in a relaxed environment. Checking out the local art galaries is also always fun. Walking along a creek or going for a hike is also a nice way to get outside and enjoy the surrounding beauty. I do enjoy cooking. Therefore, coming home and having drinks and a relaxed dinner outside on the deck in the summer time is also quite pleasant, especially with all the hummingbirds in the backyard.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have spent the bulk of my career in a corporate leadership role which then morphed into doing executive retained search with a firm out of Boulder. I continued working with corporate executives, helping them find and place candidates into key leaderhsip roles in their organizations. Along the way I have always been drawn to fine photography, art, artists, and those who are creative.
I would have to say the photographs of Ansel Adams was my first inspiration to how spectacular photography could be. A book that comes to mind is John Fielder’s book Colorado 1870-2000 with its spectacular photographs of Colorado was also an inspiration.
My daughter has been a catalyst for me to continue to explore my creative side. She shares my love of skiing, the outdoors and the American west with its incredible natural beauty. My wife who was also sucessful in the corporate world loved the mountains and the outdoors.
