We had the good fortune of connecting with Xenia Chen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Xenia, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“What seems to us as bitter trials are often blessings in disguise” – Oscar Wilde

This has hands down been my go-to quote since I was 16 years old. I think it holds true in whichever stage of life you’re in. It’s a reminder that often, the tough times you’re going through will lead to something way better – you just don’t know it yet. As I look back on my life, the lowest points led me to the biggest positive breakthroughs.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started my career working in investment banking, and then moving on to private equity. Coming from an immigrant family, I always thought the path to “success” was going to a good school, and getting a corporate job. I never in a million years thought I’d become an entrepreneur. I actually got the inspiration for Threads while I was working in finance. I was wearing tights almost every single day for work but really struggled to find a brand that was both high-quality and affordable. I also felt like a lot of the brands out there weren’t speaking to me as a modern consumer. All of our products that we bring to market are designed using the feedback of hundreds of real people, and prioritize comfort above all else.

It’s definitely been a journey building this business! I had no prior experience in textiles or fashion and learned everything from the internet or by doing. It’s been a ton of fun though and I’ve learned more about myself in the 4 years of building this business than I have ever.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I don’t think I can answer this as I’m not a Denver local haha

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents! They made the decision to immigrate to Canada from China with me when I was 5 years old, with the hopes of creating a better life for us. They didn’t know anyone and had to start from scratch. I’m forever grateful.
