Meet Zach Mangus | Video Creator and Motorcycle Builder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Zach Mangus and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Zach, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I built a custom bike (i.e., a 2003 Honda CB750) with my dad in 2018 and while it was fun, it was also incredibly challenging. We relied heavily on videos online to be able to complete the motorcycle project. I felt inspired by the online motorcycle content creators putting out videos to help others build bikes. Their passion for creating unique bikes and sharing the process online is was got me started on my YouTube journey. I strive to inspire others to build custom motorcycles. My whole mantra is ‘If I can build a bike, so can you!”.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Custom motorcycle building is an art form. There is so much that goes into it that people could easily overlook. The dimensions of your build need to be exact for the perfect angles, color schemes, unique after-market modifications, etc. it all coalesces into a custom build, but more importantly… an art piece. It truly is a creative outlet that is challenging, but so rewarding. I’ve learned new skills on every new build, everything from welding, upholstery, mechanical skills, etc. I continue to try and share how anyone can do it if they have the time and patience. I am no professional, but I have learned all these new skills to better my projects.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them on a motorcycle trip up Highway 101 (a beautiful scenic highway here on the Westcoast) to Hoodsport, WA where we could enjoy the beautiful views of the Olympic Mountains, the Salish Sea, and the blue-green Hood Canal. There is also amazing coffee and ice cream in Hoodsport.

🙂
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My dad! I wouldn’t even be riding motorcycles if it wasn’t for my dad. He was the one that encouraged me to get my endorsement so we could take a several-week bike road trip together. Since then, I’ve relied on him heavily when I’m stumped in the garage trying to fix an issue on my motorcycle. I started working on motorcycles in his garage with his tools, so he has always supported my motorcycle-building journey.
