We had the good fortune of connecting with Zach Rabun Rabun and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When we opened Mockery Brewing, we were inspired by the creativity and originality of the American craft beer scene. There was a rebelliousness that was embraced all while holding a deep respect for the history of brewing. We have always strived to represent a unique place and time with our brews by focusing on locally sourced ingredients (many times foraged), non traditional styles and methods, and ability to make a beer without first having to consider whether it will be profitable or not. We want to make the best beer possible with the tools and ingredients that best portray our environment and help support our local communities.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Go outdoors! We are spoiled with amazing mountains, rivers, vistas that can be explored and enjoyed. We have used the brewery as an excuse to travel all over the state and country and even internationally but we keep finding the best treasures the harder we look at our own backyard. Of course, there are also the hundreds of great breweries, distilleries, cideries, and wineries to check out, too.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There were dozens of people, books and organizations that were instrumental to the success of Mockery Brewing. Charlie Papazian (the Godfather of the American craft beer scene) taught a generation of people to brew from home,Tom Bell gave me my first job as a brewer at Elk Mountain Brewing, the entire brewing industry inspired me to be better at my craft and were always willing to help with advice or a spare pound of hops whenever asked, our employees that have exceeded the expectations of any business owner and often stayed with us for many years, and of course my family that has to deal with me coming home sore and tired more often than not.
