Meet Zeke Greer | Small Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Zeke Greer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Zeke, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Owning your own business is great because you’re not tied to a traditional work schedule. I get to decide everyday how much work to do and how many vacation days to take every year. I love what I do, but I can’t spend all day every day just working. It’s important to me to spend time doing things I love like snowboarding and surfing and spending time with my friends and family. If I think that my business requires more of my time than I give it more of my time. If I feel that I’m spending too much time working and not enough time doing things that I love, then I take the day off and focus more on other things. What matters to me is to always be in charge of how I spend my time.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is called Bombora Ties. I run it together with my sister and my dad. We make neckties out of a recycled boardshort material. Our goal is to make good looking ties that people feel an emotional connection to. We’re different than any other tie company out there because we’re connecting the boring world of neckties with the exciting world of lifestyle sports. The process of creating this business has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. Covid shut down the world about 4 months after we launched Bombora so our first year was hell. Luckily, we decided not give up on the business, and 2021 has been amazing for us. We’re growing fast and we have so many exciting things in development.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh boy. Definitely going snowboarding five of the seven days. I would take them to Powder Mountain, Brighton, Snowbird, Woodward PC and Park City. Gotta get some Lucky Slice pizza at some point. Maybe one fancy dinner at Riverhorse in Old Town. Going to a Jazz game is always a good time. Lastly, party at the baggers, of course.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Big shout out to my Dad. It was his idea to start a business together and the business would not be nearly as successful without him.
