We had the good fortune of connecting with Zeona McIntyre and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Zeona, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Work life balance has changed a lot for me based on where I was at in my life. When I started down the path of financial independence I had this one singular goal and I wanted to super charge it so I threw everything I had into it. Now that I have achieved many of my goals, I prioritize relationships and fun over more income producing activities. I now do meetings twice a week and have another day to get work done. I take mondays and fridays off to socialize, exercise and do self care
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what sets me part from other agents is that I am financially independent, so I don’t need the commission. I own 12 doors and can help my clients take the steps to plan their path to financial freedom. I feel extremely proud of “30 Day Stay” the book that I co-wrote with Sarah Weaver, being published by Bigger Pockets in November. My journey has happened over the last 10 years, so it has really felt like putting one foot in front of the other. I didn’t expect to get to where I am today, and I can feel that I have some big, exciting opportunities around the corner. There are definitely hard days but when I average out all the free time and flexibility I have, I’m eternally grateful that I took this path. I overcome challenges by being solution oriented. I’m not looking for someone to blame or wasting time feeling like a victim. I spring into action and keep moving forward. I hope the world sees the authenticity of my brand. I believe that everyone can achieve what I have if they want to and I want to inspire action in others. I want to help them find the fast track to the life of their dreams.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love our farmers markets. Only open in the warmer months, but they are a great place to people watch, grab lunch, see some live music and shop.
One of my favorite pastimes in boulder is biking! I love our extensive bike paths that scenically weave through the city. A large section goes along a tree lined creek and I also love to dip in for a cold plunge after a long ride.
One of the best kept secrets in terms of restaurants is Arabesque. Only open for breakfast and lunch, it is located downtown in what looks like an old house and its a one woman show! The lady who runs the shop does all the cooking and is quite a character! incredible food.
Corrida is my favorite roof top. Incredible place for a fancy meal or what we like to call “a drink and a smooch” — a romantic happy hour.
If you are feeling adventurous, there are some gorgeous mountain biking trails in the mountains. Batasso Preserve has lovely trails to hike or bike and its a fairly accessible route for most levels.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Real Estate Investing is definitely a team sport, that’s why I think it’s so important to share our stories and surround ourselves with like-minded people. Reading Paula Pants blog, afford anything inspired me. We were about the same age and she made it sound so doable. I just decided that I was going to buy rentals like she did.
