We had the good fortune of connecting with Jurgis Plikaitis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jurgis, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
As someone deeply passionate about the automotive industry, I’ve spent years working closely with both car buyers and dealers. My journey began with co-founding EpicVIN, a vehicle history report provider, and later co-founding A Better Bid and AutoInspect. Through these ventures, I gained firsthand experience and insights into the challenges faced by both dealers and private car sellers.

During my time in the industry, I noticed a significant gap: dealers often struggled to source high-quality inventory, while private sellers faced the hassle of visiting multiple dealerships to sell their cars. It was clear to me that there had to be a better way—one that could address both of these pain points effectively.

The idea for EpiCar came from this realization. I wanted to create a platform where private sellers could easily list their vehicles, and dealers could bid on them in a familiar auction-style format. This would not only simplify the selling process for individuals but also provide dealerships with a reliable source of quality inventory.

The turning point for me was realizing that by bringing these two groups together in a transparent and user-friendly marketplace, we could create a solution that benefits everyone involved. EpiCar was born from this vision—to offer an easier, more transparent car-selling experience that meets the needs of both sellers and dealers.

What should our readers know about your business?
EpiCar is acting as an interface between automotive dealers and private car sellers. What distinguishes the process to sell your car is that it becomes as simple as taking a photo and uploading it on our website. What makes us different are three things: transparency, ease of use, and win-win for the sellers and the dealers. We are the dependable source for quality dealer inventory, and we provide private sellers a fast, easy way to sell their cars.

I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved so far in such a short time. We launched EpiCar in October 2023, and, whilst the early days of seeing its potential are very exciting indeed, dealer development has been topmost on our list of priorities. And what thrills me is to begin to receive the enthusiastic response of the dealer community.

But the journey has been anything but simple. The automobile industry is dominated by big companies like Carvana and CarMax, so it was quite tough to break in and get our footing. But we saw an opportunity to tackle that challenge head-on. Based on a few specific needs of smaller dealerships and private sellers, we created our platform with an aim at redressing the gaps created by bigger players.

One of the key lessons I have learned is around knowing the customer. We spent a lot of time speaking with dealers and private sellers to understand where their pain points were and what they really needed. This approach has truly been very important for our success.

What I want the world to know about EpiCar is that we are here to make car selling easier, more transparent, and more accessible to all. We are more than a marketplace; we are partners with our dealers and sellers in creating the right experience. Our story is just beginning, and we are excited to see where this journey takes us.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take my best friend for a visit to Skyline Bar to have the best view of the city, The Tasting Room to experience wonderful eating, and Eagle Mountain Park for the greatest hike one will ever experience. We would walk around in the Art District for local culture, go to Golden Vineyards for some wine tasting, and then finally relax and see the sunset view from the rooftop at The Top while having our final meal there.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate a shoutout to my incredible team at EpiCar. Their dedication, hard work, and shared vision have been instrumental in bringing our idea to life. I’d also like to give credit to the Independent Dealer Associations of Florida, New York, California, and Texas. Their support and collaboration have been invaluable in helping us understand the needs of dealerships and shaping our platform accordingly.
