In 2014, I left corporate as a senior vice president and pivoted careers to start a freelance writing business, but I knew God didn’t want me to waste the 20+ years of business experience he’d blessed me with. So I founded a ministry called “Sacred Work,” where I provide free leadership and career coaching for women. Women come to me with specific leadership and work challenges, and I help them find solutions. Some want to learn how to negotiate a raise or promotion, others want to change careers or need guidance dealing with tough personnel issues. Our mission is to ‘improve all lives by serving men facing mental health challenges’. Men make up over 82% of suicides in Colorado and less than 20% of people treated for a mental illness and/or substance abuse. Improving all ives was very intentional. We know the butterfly effect that men have on the entire community. Husbands, partners, friends, siblings, children and the entire community are affected by men’s mental health. Healthier men equates to a healthier community. Men need a supportive community of other men, healthy hobbies and awareness of what they are dealing with when it comes to their mental health. My business – Louisa57, is aimed to make talking about and tending to mental and emotional health, the norm. With the tagline “Mind Your Mind” I am intentionally alerting any and everyone to pay attention to what you are thinking, why they have the thoughts, and how it’s making them feel. Most of our mental health imbalances are due to our thoughts being self-contained, which traps us in our emotions which then leads to health problems including mental health attacks such as anxiety and depression. The Boulder Art Association is a local, nonprofit organization. We’re a community of artists in support of the visual arts offering free events to our community and beyond. The BAA welcomes all levels of artists – from emerging artists to professionals who have been creating and selling art for years. We have twice yearly member shows, providing artist members the opportunity to showcase their art in R Gallery, located in downtown Boulde and other venues. We have monthly meetings where all are welcome, free to the public, where we offer mini hands-on workshops, presentations and demonstrations.
