What do you want your legacy to be?

We asked folks about legacy and what they want people to remember about them. We’ve shared some of those responses below.

There is so much each of us can do in a lifetime, and yet we’re all limited by having only one lifespan to accomplish our goals. Some people change the world; others impact their community. Still others transform their local neighborhood or raise a family according to their values. As for me, it is my mission to impact the world through education. My first joyful childhood memory is related to teaching. I can still see the scene: There they were, my cousins, sitting in small chairs, and me standing in front of the room as their teacher. I was the first full time social worker employed at the local hospital. When I changed careers from occupational therapy over to social work after getting my master’s degree, I thought a lot about this question. I really wanted to make an impact in our community and fill gaps where there was no support in our mountain town. This is where Integrative medicine was born. I ran the Integrated Medicine clinic for 4 years before deciding to start my own business. I wanted to truly join Mental Health and Physical Health in a way that I’ve never seen. I wanted a place for clients to go and learn about neuroscience and do mind/body therapy, but also get the physical support they needed or medications. Read more>>

I want people to remember me by my positivity and helpfulness. I love to help people learn new things and feel their best by sharing my recipes and my story on my Instagram @mindfulnourishingec. I want people to remember that I overcame something and turned it into a passion. Choosing recovery blessed me with discovering my love for cooking and baking. It made me realize I can be whatever I want to be. I want my legacy to include that I never cared what others thought about me or what I do. I post whatever I want because I like it. Read more>>
