What makes you happy?

Happiness is everything. Where there is happiness, everything else is possible and so we asked the community to tell us what makes them happy.

I believe that joy can be found everywhere I look. I truly believe that. Through presence (also known as observation), I can bring myself into a space where I appreciate who and what is around me. The sound of Canadian Geese flying overhead, the brush of a cold breeze against the side of my body, the rustle of the leaves shimmering in the sun, or noticing a yellow jacket sitting on a marigold. Offering a healing presence is the root of who I am as an Animal Chaplain. Using spiritual practice strengthens my ability to offer empathy in spaces and with individuals outside of those seeking care for their grief. I can thrive and find joy knowing that happiness is always available to me. By allowing my emotions when I notice, I can nurture uncertainty by becoming aware of my needs and offering grace and gratitude. Read more>>

I’m happy making things. When I’ve got a concept for an artwork, I love thinking creatively and generating lots of visual scenarios in my head – pairing colors, forms, and materials together. Then I imagine how these things would look in a space (gallery, room, alley etc.), how they’d respond to their environment, and how they’d engage with a viewer. I sometimes have too much fun with this part of the process and struggle to make things happen. This is where deadlines come in handy, lol. Once something that was floating around in my head begins to materialize in the real world, it’s incredibly satisfying. Read more>>
