It’s ever so import to prioritize working hard and playing harder. Taking small steps quarterly at the beginning of my career on short vacations or staycations, focusing on short term achievable goals, and expanding my reach every year has allowed me to build up more time for fun. Landing a career path that I’m passionate about has led me to gain more years of service, accruing additional, competitive time off benefits, and taking full advantage of what adventure is waiting for me. My search for what balance means to me has never stopped, especially, since my hobby turned into a passion and, eventually, a life’s work.

It’s more than just a creative career, it’s a lifestyle. There’s no fixed schedule for work hours, no formal vacation planning, and no set schedules. My mind is constantly brimming with ideas. The joy lies in the work itself, something I’m truly passionate about. On the flip side, running my own business means I’m juggling multiple responsibilities all the time, which can be challenging. I wish I could say I’ve perfected work life balance. Finding balance is always something I’m aiming for and really try to uphold to the best of my ability (aren’t we all). An important value is not allowing anything to overshadow the priority of family and taking care of myself. Earlier on in my career while working with a high-risk population, I learned the hard way how quickly burn out can become a reality. I was incorporating the importance of balance with my clients but wasn’t practicing the same for myself. This forced me to work on physical and energetic boundaries in order for my work to be sustainable.
