Artists and creatives face innumerable challenges given that their career path often doesn’t come with a playbook, a steady paycheck or any form of safety net. It’s definitely not easy and so we asked a few of the artists and creatives we admire to talk to us about why they chose to pursue an artistic or creative career.

I chose to make art my business because creativity has always been an integral part of who I am. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to activities that allow me to express myself creatively. My passion for painting truly blossomed during my college years while studying Art, and that experience solidified my love for the craft. As I transitioned into adulthood, I often received encouragement from others to sell my artwork. Honestly… don’t tell anyone this, but I would probably still be performing even if I never got paid for it. I found dance and aerial arts as a hobby a few years ago and just fell in love with it. I love the challenge of pushing my limits physically, as well as the expression and creative outlet it provides. As much as I enjoyed dancing and training in the studio for myself, once I had the opportunity to perform for an audience and share that passion with others I was hooked. I still feel humbled and honored that people value my craft and want to hire me to be a part of the special moments in their lives, whether it is a holiday party, wedding or birthday.
