What’s the right balance between work and non-work time? The traditional 9-5 has slowly disappeared with the emails and zoom and texting going far beyond traditional business hours. We asked members of our community to share with us how they think about work-life balance.

In the beginning, there was no balance. It was build, build, build. But then thankfully we grew to a place where I hired an employee & was able to delegate. Even then I found myself working 7 days a week. When I hit year 2 this year, I started to experience burnout. So over the last couple months I’ve been trying to be more intentional & take days off. I like to think that I have still somewhat managed to maintain a balance between work and personal life, but it’s definitely a daily struggle and I find it only becomes harder and harder every year ,and I’ll tell you why.. When I first started out my photography business, I was working year round in Denver and I had my choice of days off after years of establishing a good online presence. You can view that as a “healthy” balance.

Over the past 9 years I started to travel heavily because I now had an established high and low season. I am out of the country 5-months out of the year and the rest of the time I am here in Denver. While I am in town, I just work… a lot. I don’t recognize days of the week, birthday’s, or holidays. I just work when I can because I love traveling that much! Read More>>

My work-life balance has shifted a lot over the years. In the beginning, I was saying yes to everything, every inquiry, every request, no matter the time or day. I thought that’s what I had to do to grow, but all it really did was burn me out. Now, I’ve created a consistent schedule where I shoot Tuesday through Saturday, and I take Sundays and Mondays completely off. Setting those boundaries has been a game-changer.
