Meet François and Ben | ROSSER / LEBEAU Photography

We had the good fortune of connecting with François and Ben and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi François and Ben, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We’ve been working on our own personal stuff for a few years already, François has mainly been traveling a lot shooting for outdoor brands, and Ben in the event coverage and portrait side of photography in NYC. Over the years, we’ve been very appreciative of each others work, sharing the same vision, esthetic, and approach. Not to mention our long-lasting friendship.
Our collaboration between us appeared organically because we wanted to focus our work more on genuine and authentic stories and also give back valuable imagery to people that they could cherish for years to come. And we did such a great decision cause it has been welcomed so well.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Rosser / Lebeau is right now the culmination of the years of work we’ve put in both our careers to reach the way we want to portray moments and people. Very documentary, authentic, and real. We are avoiding leaning on the tricks and gimmicks that photography can offer to deliver great images. Being fully present when we do our craft is primordial to us. Nurturing genuine relationships with our clients is key so trust is established and very important when we shoot. We have the utmost respect for our clients, cause they allow us to come into their private lives. From our perspective, every shoot is filled with beautiful vulnerability, which translates in strength and love in our images. We are so grateful for every single opportunity and relationship we’ve built since we’ve started this adventure.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
When artists start their quest in the artistic field, they have the impression that they are by themselves and they need to create something wonderful from scratch. Turns out, we are all in this together and bouncing inspirations from one to another is something way more common than what we can imagine. The social media era we live in right now facilitates even more this organic movement between us. Seeing the work of colleagues from around the world just fuels vividly this drive to always go above and beyond, polishing our craft every day.
There are so many good creators out there that either starts our fire, and many more that keep putting some fuel in it.
To name a few: Amy Woodward and Elliana Allon.
