Meet Shelby Chapman & Brittney Landers | Owners, Yours Truly Embroidery

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shelby Chapman & Brittney Landers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shelby Chapman &, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As two busy moms with a shared love for children’s fashion, personalization, and monogramming, starting our own business felt like a natural fit. When we first discussed launching an embroidery business, we made a commitment that our families would always come first. We wanted a creative outlet that allowed us to do something we genuinely enjoyed while still maintaining the flexibility to be present for our young children.
At the time, we also noticed a gap in the Denver market. There were very few local options for custom embroidery and monogramming, and we saw an opportunity to provide a service that people were looking for but couldn’t easily find.
What started as small, one-off orders through social media quickly grew through word-of-mouth and the support of our community. Over the last few years, we’ve expanded from taking custom requests online to building a full e-commerce website and offering live mobile embroidery events—one of our favorite parts of the business because it allows us to connect with customers in person and create something special for them on the spot.
Watching our business evolve from a simple idea into what it is today has been incredibly rewarding, and we’re grateful that we’ve been able to build something that combines creativity, entrepreneurship, and family.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
At the heart of our business, we’re simply two sisters, two moms who are passionate about creativity, personalization, and supporting small businesses. We started Yours Truly Embroidery because we wanted a creative outlet that allowed us to do meaningful work while still being present for our families. Today, it’s still just the two of us behind every order, every design, and every stitch.
What sets us apart is the level of care and attention we put into every project. Whether it’s a single personalized gift, a business logo, or a large event activation, we genuinely love bringing our clients’ ideas to life. From the initial concept to the finished product, there’s nothing more rewarding than helping someone create something meaningful and unique.
Like most small business owners, our journey hasn’t always been easy. We’ve worn every hat imaginable—from designers and machine operators to marketers, photographers, customer service representatives, and website developers. Building a business while raising families comes with its own set of challenges, but we’ve learned that persistence, adaptability, and a willingness to keep learning will pay off.
One of the lessons we’ve learned along the way is that growth doesn’t happen overnight. The business we’ve built today started with small orders placed through social media and has grown steadily through hard work, word-of-mouth referrals, and a community of customers who continue to support us.
What we’re most excited about right now is expanding our live mobile embroidery experiences. We recently invested in beautiful custom embroidery carts designed to elevate the client experience, and we can’t wait to take them on the road. From grand openings and corporate events to weddings, showers, and private celebrations, we’re excited to bring the magic of custom embroidery directly to our clients and create memorable experiences in real time.
More than anything, we want people to know that Yours Truly Embroidery is built on family, creativity, and connection. We are grateful to do work we love, and we’re honored every time someone trusts us to help tell their story through something personalized and made just for them.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If one of our best friends was visiting for a week, we’d want to give them a little bit of everything that makes living in Colorado special—great food, beautiful scenery, local favorites, and plenty of time to slow down and enjoy it all.
We’d start the mornings with coffee at Otis in Lafayette, one of our favorite local coffee shops. From there, we’d probably spend some time exploring the charming downtown areas of Lafayette, Louisville, and Erie. We love supporting local businesses, and these communities are filled with great shops & restaurants.
For food, Birdhouse in Erie would definitely be on the list for dinner and drinks. Another favorite is Teocalli in Louisville—it’s one of those places we find ourselves returning to again and again. For dessert, we’d make a stop at Sweets in Erie for ice cream, especially if the kids are with us.
Speaking of kids, we’d spend a morning at the “Butterfly Park” in Erie, which is a family favorite. One of the things we love most about this area is how family-friendly it is, with beautiful parks, trails, and community events happening throughout the year.
No Colorado itinerary would be complete without taking in the mountain views, so we’d head over to Acreage for a meal or happy hour. We’d also carve out a night or two for a trip up to Vail to enjoy the mountains, take a walk through the village, and soak in everything that makes Colorado such a great place to live and visit.
In Denver, we’d spend a day wandering around Cherry Creek North. It’s one of our favorite places to shop, grab lunch, and simply enjoy an afternoon. We’d definitely make time for a mahjong game or two, one of our favorite ways to unwind and connect with friends.
For dinner in Denver, we’d keep it classic with La Loma (now Savina’s) for incredible Mexican food, and we’d make sure to visit Temaki Den for some of the best sushi in the city.
And depending on the season, we’d plan our weekend around one of the many fantastic farmers markets. The Lafayette Farmers Market and the Erie Thursday Night Farmers Market are both favorites and are such a great way to experience the local community.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Our business truly wouldn’t be where it is today without the love and support of our families, close friends, loyal customers, and the amazing community that has cheered us on from the very beginning. Every order, referral, social media share, and word of encouragement has played a part in helping us grow.
That said, the person who deserves the biggest shoutout is our dad, John. He has always instilled an entrepreneurial spirit in us and showed us what it means to work hard, take risks, and build something of your own. As a successful entrepreneur himself, he has been a constant source of guidance, encouragement, and inspiration throughout our journey.
In fact, none of this may have happened without him—he was the one who first suggested purchasing an embroidery machine. What started as his idea quickly became our passion, and we took it and ran with it.
We’re grateful for everyone who has helped us along the journey, but we owe a special thank you to our dad for planting the seed that started it all.
