We had the good fortune of connecting with Charles Buck and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Charles, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
Giving up is not an option, especially when you are doing something that you chose to do. Yes there are situations that occur where to no fault of your own, you most cut your losses and move on to the next thing or opportunity. However this is not the go to. Choose to succeed, chose to win.
What should our readers know about your business?
As a new speaker and life coach, I lean back on my personnel stories of success and failure. In my book: “My Own Worst Enemy” I chronicled these stories. My life has been challenging, but in many cases, it was a direct reflection of the choices I made, or the people I chose to be around. Sometimes it was a great choice, other times it was not. That is why I teach “Life is About Choices, Make Good Ones”. It’s important to realize that you play the biggest part in your life. I often to tell people when I am teaching or mentoring, “Every time I had a problem in my life, there was one person who was always there that was fundamentally the root cause of that problem. Me, I was there each and every time.” So, taking ownership of what has gone bad in your life, is just as important, if not more important than taking ownership of the good things.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I feel living in north Colorado Springs gives me such great options to venture out and see new places and things. But one of my most favorite things to do is jump on my motorcycle and head to the mountains. Sometimes its Breakenridge, other times it’s a quick ride to Cripple Creek. I also love to hang out downtown Denver where you can enjoy the beauty of the city life especially near the Pepsi enter. I love the old warehouses and buildings that people have converted into living areas or new businesses. The perseveration of old things has always impressed me. Walking into a 100-year-old building and imagining what it looked like, or smelled like, what was sold or stored there, or the what the people looked like who were in it. Grabbing a door handle or banister, knowing that hundreds and hundreds of people that came before me did the same thing, in the same place. This has always fascinated me.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
