We had the good fortune of connecting with Selina & Evan Lerma and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Selina & Evan, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Hard work, consistency, and family legacy. Owning a food truck is long hours, and not for the faint of heart. However it does keep things exciting. Being able to travel to various events and breweries allows us to experience things we might not otherwise have had the chance to experience. It allows us to share our families unique cuisine and to continue the legacy our father left us.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Our food has been noticed across the nation! We have been featured in NPR’s Splenda table, Road food books, and Gourmet Magazine just to name a few. Our food takes a unique twist on Tex-Mex and is yummy! Everything is handcrafted and takes time to prepare. We take extreme pride in the products we create for our customers. We are extremely passionate about the fresh food we prepare daily and in continuing on our families business.

We believe that in order to be successful you have to love what you do, be hands-on, adaptable to changes in economical trends ( i.e. restaurant having a food truck presence ) , have a strong work ethic, and be consistent.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our mom and dad Paul and Rosy Lerma, have maintained a successful business over the past 50 years. Our mom Rosie is the backbone of the operation since our father‘s passing five years ago. Paul Lerma successfully continued the restaurant business his mother, our grandmother, initially started back in the 1960s. Paul was her right hand help and successfully carried on the family business. He passed down the business to our mother myself and brother. Without the both of them we would not have the guidance and business savvy experience we do now. Credit to them for many years of hard work, and inspiring us to continue and expand the family business.
