We had the good fortune of connecting with Sean Turner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sean, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued a artistic and creative career because I saw so many friends parents growing up miserable making all the money in the world being Doctors and lawyers or CEOs or huge companies etc. they were so unhappy. I discovered how happy photography made me and I found a way to pass that joy onto others.

That’s how wedding photography became my passion and career.. I was able to share my talents with a couple in one of their happiest days!

Not being able to be creative and forced to just “be the same as everyone else” made me cringe. I had to do me

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

What sets me apart from others is my personality and passion. I fell in love with capturing love. Getting to share my photographic talents with couples on their happiest day…that’s just icing on the cake. Plus i like to so a little live sneak peek at the reception. Wen they sit down, they get to see a photo that they just took not too long ago. It blows a lot of minds. The smiles make it all worth it.

I got where i am today professionally thanks to an internship. Fresh out of college i was accepted into Bella weddings photography program. 6 weeks second shooting with 6 different photographers. 7 since i got cocky on my 6th and brought my studio lights for off camera flashes…yeah it didnt go well lol. After 7 wedding i learned so much i felt ready to shoot on my own. Since i had such a deep past in competitive sports and photography the day was easy. I knew confidently how to use my camera and now had the training on what and how to cover a wedding.

I learned that i needed better equipment and honestly just more of it. It was scary to invest into such expensive equipment, but having the best lenses and bodies made my life so much easier. There’s a time and a place to save money. Flash is it. Lens is not. Its a hard lesson to learn so invest in lenses and quality glass over anything.

I want the world to know…chase happiness and your dreams. Don’t settle for what’s easy. Chase the dream and find what makes you happy or you’ll spend this life in regret. I never focused on making millions, i chased happiness. Going to “work” aka wedding is the absolute best. Im surrounded by people on the happiest day of their lifes(the couple anyways lol)

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Are you kidding me? Share my secret spots with the internet so it’s ruined? Totally kidding. A few of my favorite spots in the city are food or beer related. Chuey Fus in denver is ridiculous. They flavor is off the chart and the staff treats you like family. Jackass Jill brewery in Littleton is a. New favorite. A different food truck keeps things mixed up and fresh. The beer is pretty good too lo,

A few cool spots to go see are Meow Wolf since my friends like (something you’ll provable edit out anyway lol. Mushrooms and weed and trippy art) and of course, Red Rocks. Even if they don’t see a concert, getting to see the venue is powerful enough.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I mean, this one’s hard. I feel like you can’t thank one without thanking them all like an acceptance speech. That being said, aside from the obvious close family who always loves, encourages and supports everything that I do, I want to give a shout out to Roberto Valenzuela. He’s a huge wedding and portrait photographer who’s written a lot of the books I read and live by. I’ve even suggested to models to pick up his posing book. He’s changed so many lives with his passion to teach. I’m super happy there are people out there who love to give back and not need to be the super star who does so. I appreciate how humble he can be.
