We had the good fortune of connecting with Isaiah Luna and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Isaiah, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am originally from Hereford, Texas but was born in Amarillo, Texas. I am currently based out of Pueblo, Colorado at this time and first moved here with my mother and my 3 brothers end 2013 so we have lived here for 9 years.so far. The upbringing and impact who made me was being involved into music my whole life it feels like. I was into the playing drums as young as I can remember. Being influenced by drum line the film with nick canon and remember always watching that movie. Fast forward to about my 7th grade year I was a drummer at a church my uncles ex father in law owned. So that was how I got that experience fully and I was super good kind of shocked my self sometimes. Funny story my 6th grade year I actually tried out for band and wanted to be on the snare drum and the tryouts were so odd to me and they had me want to be on the trumpet so I didn’t do it after all. Then that following year my 7th grade year an instructor offered if I wanted to cause around that time he heard that I was playing at the church and I turned down his offer and just stuck with it at the church. From then end of 7th going into my 8th grade year I fell off playing and surprisingly got into dancing lol was getting the hang of breakdancing to when the group LMFAO was big. As well as my friends back then Jesse, and my homie Christian Morales influenced that on me because they were from LA and shuffling was big also in California. Besides that I always went to middle school dances they’d have out of school at a local community center or quinceaneras of people we knew. I even won most talented my 8th grade year and when they called my name I was super surprised. Then going into high school my freshman year we were all still friends but everyone just grew up and never was really on that dancing vibe anymore and sort of grew apart then 2 months in I moved out here and when I made my first actual friend his brother rapped and had a home studio and when made my first song it was terrible but it influenced that on me a lot.. Its a bit much but al ths helped me grow as person and made me who I am.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I love making music and have been for the past 3 years but doing it fully since 2020. Recently I’ve been getting into producing as far as like making beats and such. I engineer mostly all my own music and my close friends then send it to a buddy txnitrue to get a better sound of what I record. Regardless it always comes out good either way. Not only that I make art when I can and create custom jeans, tees, or whatever I can do like shoes and such. Where I got today is based off of hope, being mindful, hard work, progression, long nights and dedication. Without this I would have been able to get this done no matter if I have been in sync with music to be honest. Its never been easy trying to get bigger and most of the time I always get same results besides music videos I release those do good but the music sometimes people do listen as much when I first started buts its okay. Had to learn to be consistent a lot with everything and overcame by trusting my self and still do what I love. What sets me apart is I care about what I put into existence, with the words, the music, the sound and the sonics of everything. Like a young Kanye having his vision into all these things as well as Virgil Abloh. Because music now a day is super diluted besides big industry names. Thats where I want to get to getting my foot into the music industry to spread a message of love because I’ve always been judged because of my presence and I have more character than what being seen.
I have a release for July 21st, the ep will be called PLUR meaning Peace, Love, Unity, respect.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Liberty Point I’d say is the coolest place because you can see the reservoir and has a beautiful view of the mountains and surroundings. As well as bishops castle and more up in the mountains and such. personally that’s what I would do. Favorite spots to eat would be Shamrock’s its an Irish place and has great food. Joe’s tomato gots the best sandwiches so of coarse there. Also a taste of Philly they got the best cheese steaks.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out my mom of coarse, my grandma, my uncle Tony, my uncles Marc and Henry. As well my 3 brothers, my aunt Michelle, my uncle Micheal, my uncle Sam. Devin, Isiah Pacheco, Jordan Ruiz, Dom, Tone C. My friends Keanu, Ben, Alex, Isaiah, Scott, KrispyKidd, Drew, Duey, Danny, Manuel, Zach, Javon, Christian Romero, Johnny Colarelli, Zerik, Damian, Mitch, and Antonio Trujillo.
