We had the good fortune of connecting with Dana Knerl and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dana, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I am not going to lie. Taking a risk can be scary. What I have come to find as an entrepreneur and in life is that if you never take a chance you will never grow and evolve as a person or in your profession.

My career started off in a more traditional role as a nurse, and eventually I felt called and inspired to start my own holistic healing practice, I thought for many years that although it was my passion, I would never make any money as an energy healer. I was afraid to give up the stable and secure job I had working at a hospital, so I stayed part-time as a nurse and part-time working to build my business. Interestingly enough, my business never took off, and looking back, I know It was because I was afraid to go ALL in.

After the COVID-19 pandemic hit, I reached a breaking point. I realized I needed to either give up the dream of running my own holistic healing practice or go in 100%. I finally stopped worrying and over-analyzing and decided to trust my intuition. After I quit my job as a nurse and committed completely to my holistic healing practice, my business started to thrive. If I never let myself take a risk and step outside of my comfort zone, I would not have the successful business that I do today!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
You are your own healer. Sometimes you need guidance, direction, and support as you move through your healing journey. As a Holistic Healing Guide, I help empathic people heal trauma, reclaim their essence, and illuminate the path toward their purpose.

What sets me apart from others is I help clients take their healing process to the next level. Oftentimes people come to me when they are struggling with anxiety or they are feeling stuck in life. While I do offer single session healing experiences, it can be really beneficial to commit to some more in-depth work. That way we can work together to uncover the root of what is really going on energetically and help you reconnect back to your authentic self. I help people heal and harmonize their chakras (the seven main energy center) and integrate a combination of Reiki energy healing and the Akashic Records. Time and time again I hear how powerful yet nurturing this work can be. .

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Up here in the mountains there is so much to do! If I had a friend visiting for a day I would definitely start with an oat milk chair latte at Hygge Life Shop and Cafe and then head over to Ketsol to shop for some classic Colorado apparel. Booth Lake Trail is one of my favorite hikes of all time, and it is a great way to submerge your self in pine trees and aspens while moving your body in nature. Vail Valley Wellness would be a great follow-up to indulge in a foot-detox or other relaxing spa service. Lunar Flow yoga at Anahata Yoga and Wellness is also a class not to be missed. To top off an amazing day, I’d recommend dinner at the Rose which offer some incredible vegan and gluten-free options.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to give a shoutout to all of the teachers and mentors I’ve had across my own healing journey. (There have been so so many!) In particular, thank you to Anodea Judith, the author of Eastern Body Western Mind, who inspired me to healing myself through the chakras and develop a process to guide others to heal in the same way.
