We had the good fortune of connecting with Katherine Nybakken and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
There are three main reasons we stand apart from other similar businesses. First, we emphasize that the foundation of success in training and enjoying life with your dog is relationship. It’s important that you and your dog learn to communicate and that you understand and respect each other. When you have a solid relationship, training is more fun and successful, and consistency is natural and easy. Second, instead of cookie-cutter formulas and programs, we customize for you and your dog as individuals. We listen carefully to what your lifestyle is like and what your goals are as well as evaluate the individual dog you have and design a program that will be the most successful. Third, at Amazing Pawsibilities, we highly value expertise and continued professional growth. We use evidence-based strategies that are not only efficient and effective, but also are shown to best develop confidence and resilience and to strengthen the trust bond between human and dog.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The best part of being in the Denver area are all the gorgeous spots to spend time outside! I have a few favorite spots that are easy to get to for the less athletic where we can enjoy a great view with a picnic. Or, if my guest is up for it, a beautiful mountain hike or time out in the kayak. A quiet downtime stay in the mountains to enjoy the birdsongs and rustling aspens would also be on the agenda. When we are in town, I like to go out to see music and theater – and most of my guests probably would, too! Of course we’d have to schedule a show a Red Rocks!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes! There are quite a few! I’d love to shoutout to all my mentors, teachers, and supporters who have helped me along my way with encouragement, confidence, and opportunities to learn more and develop my skills. I also have some awesome colleagues that I meet with regularly to discuss cases. I also want to shoutout to all those that have and continue to support me as I learn and grow as a business owner, including all my past and present trainers, and all the behind-the-scenes help, in business coaching, legal and employment, accounting and bookkeeping, web design and social media. Organizations such as Humane Colorado, Riverdale Animal Shelter, SCORE, Thrive!, IAABC, and APDT have been invaluable in my journey. And, most of all, all my wonderful, wonderful clients that have enjoyed learning with me. I have been so lucky to have such a great community of support that has encouraged me to continue on!
