Meet Ross Page | Creative Producer & Podcaster

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ross Page and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ross, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
To make a positive impact on the local film community and fill a void, to move with the changing times.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a filmmaker and I discovered a void, a space where filmmakers were under represented in my community. So I decided to start a film festival called Made in the West, which is run by my production company called Still Searchin’ Productions, and a podcast featuring local artists and filmmakers in conversation about their work.
Made in the West Film Festival brings the glamour of a red carpet industry awards night to Western Sydney filmmakers. Hosted by Still Searchin’ Productions, the festival shines a spotlight on Western Sydney’s emerging film scene, connecting independent and student filmmakers with established industry experts for one spectacular event showcasing locally produced films.
Founded in 2012, Made in the West is the biggest annual celebration of Western Sydney talent on the big screen.
Films are judged by a panel of industry professionals and four major awards are presented on the night: Best in the West, Best Student Film, Best Music Video and the highly coveted Audience Choice Award.
Made in the West Online Film Festival screens one week after the cinema screening, with audiences at home voting for the annual People’s Choice Award.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love Sydney and Western Sydney, so if they were from out of town I would take them to lunch down in Sydney Harbor overlooking the ‘coat hanger’ (The Harbor Bridge), a visit to the famous Bondi Beach, and maybe even a ferry ride along the Parramatta river. There would definitely be a pint involved!
If they were from Sydney I would show them Western Sydney, starting at the ridgeline of the Blue Mountains, with breakfast in Glenbrook village. I would make our way down to Penrith (The City of Adventure) to the Museum of Fire, and maybe the indoor skydiving center for a coffee, then a walk down main street where we would take a least six outrageous selfies in the new photo studio. We would finish the night at the Roof Top Bar for cocktails and sunset view towards the mountains.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Misty McPhail and Jay Knapp, we remind each other that we can do this, we call each other to measure and ultimately fill each others lives with positivity
