We had the good fortune of connecting with Terrell Lamont and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Terrell, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I think that every human being has the potential and the ability to be creative. Some people have a stronger pull to express themselves creatively and I feel like my pull to be creative is extremely strong. I don’t think that I would find much fulfilment or satisfaction in pursuing a non-creative career, simply because of how many things that I want to be involved in and how many things that I want to do in the artistic realm. To be honest, I’m just not sure there’s enough time to pursue a career outside of pursuing my creative inclinations. My ambitions in film and music and art, they just dominate my mind and my heart and that’s what I gravitate towards.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I believe that art of any kind at the bare minimum has to entertain but for me that’s just the start of it. Art has the ability to do so much more. It can inspire, encourage, uplift, it can connect people across different walks of life. To me, that’s what sets me apart. My goal is to always go deeper than just the bare minimum. The thought of being able to connect with someone through my art that I’ll never meet is sometimes the fuel to keep my creative fire burning.
I resonate with the dreamers of this world and the pursuit of a big dream is never easy. That’s why I’m extremely excited about my new TV series, Broke Boys, which focuses on the challenges of chasing a dream. I truly believe that no matter how hard it gets, all dreams are achievable with the right attitude and effort.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Denver Biscuit Company – Best biscuits in the city!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people that have inspired and supported me in this journey, especially my closest friends and family who’ve stood by my side and held me up through some of my darkest times even when I wasn’t at my best. To all the folks at my company gritHouse Studios, and at Impavid Entertainment, Main Man Films, Milly J Photo just to name a few. These are some of my closest collaborators in film, in music and really in life. We’ve supported each other in so many endeavors and their support to me and my career is something I’m truly grateful for.
